Everlasting Consolation

 

Stand fast and
hold onto

the gospel that
you’ve heard

knowing you are
loved and given

comfort and hope for
every good work.

“comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work.”

Works and Treasures

 

I have given you
the work of your hands

all your treasures are
from Me

so you can
magnify My name

and live for My
glory.

You establish Yourself as my treasure.

“For because you have trusted in your works and your treasures, you also shall be taken. Make him drunk, because he exalted himself against the LORD.” Jeremiah 48:6,26. NKJV

In That Day

 

No one will look
at their false altars
or the work
they have done

for all eyes
will be on Me
the Holy
Lifted One.

Jesus establishes Himself as my Maker.

“In that day man will look to his Maker, and his eyes will have respect for the Holy One of Israel. He will not look to the altars, the work of his hands; he will not respect what his fingers have made, nor the wooden images nor the incense altars.” Isaiah 17:7,8 NKJV

You Did Not Labor

“I have given you a land for which you did not labor, and cities which you did not build, and you shall dwell in them; you eat of the vineyards and olive groves which you did not plant.” Joshua 24:13

This reminds me of a time share – only they got to stay and not pay!

Lord, we thank You for forgiveness, mercy and grace, none of which we could ever work or earn on our own. We abide and rest in You, a type of dwelling place that we could not build for ourselves. Your word grows within us and nourishes us, something we never planted or imagined. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Imagine That

We have what we
haven’t worked for

we live within
what we haven’t built

we have food
that no one knows of

all of this
without shame or guilt.

He Knows Your Trudging

“For the Lord your God has blessed you in all the work of your hand. He knows your trudging through this great wilderness. These forty years the Lord your God has been with you; you have lacked nothing.” Deuteronomy 2:7

I’m not sure how blessed the children of Israel felt in the wilderness. Or how blessed we feel in our own.

O Lord, help us discern the truth from the lies. You are indeed with us, therefore we lack nothing. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Still With Us

Some days drag over us
leaving us for dead
and if we dare to look up
we see more trudging ahead.

But the truth is You’re blessing
the work that we do
and know exactly what it’s like
for You are right here too.

A Calling

“And when He had called His twelve disciples to HIM, He gave them power. . .”  Matthew 10:1

People with a calling make an impact on the lives around them.  They seem naturally born and propelled to do what they do.

Lord, thank You for calling us first and foremost . . .to You. Here’s a simple poem . . .

Behind The Scenes

When I meet people
with a calling
I’m amazed by
the work they do

but that work
isn’t what called them
behind it all
is amazing You.
