Soft Hearts

 

Don’t refuse
to hear My words

and turn your hearts
to flint

but listen
to My commands

and surrender
to all of it.

As Dear Children

 

Let the words
from my mouth

be simply
thankful ones

as an imitator
of God

lighted by
His Son.

I can imitate You, for You are with me.

“neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.”

“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.”

In My Words

 

The Herodians
and Pharisees
looked for wrong
in what I’d say

but you know
My words are true
that I’m your life
your hope, your way.

You establish Your truth to me.

“Then they sent to Him some of the Pharisees and the Herodians, to catch Him in His words.” Mark 12:13 NKJV

Not Everything

 

Don’t take to heart
everything
that you hear
people say

remembering your lips
also
have at times
strayed.

A laid down life holds the words of others lightly.

“Also do not take to heart everything people say, lest you hear your servant cursing you. For many times, also, your own heart has known that even you have cursed others.” Ecclesiates 7:21,22 NKJV

Comfort and Strength

“I also could speak as you do,
If your soul were in my soul’s place.
I could heap up words against you,
and shake my head at you;
But I would strengthen you with my mouth,
And the comfort of my lips would relieve your grief.”  Job 16:4-5

Mother Theresa said, “Words which do not give the light of Christ increase the darkness.”

Lord, we thank You for Your Word to us, which is Life.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

more and more it seems
clouding our thoughts, stifling our hope
smothering our dreams.

But Your Word gives life
and that abundantly
comforting, correcting
You heal and set us free.
