A Warrior Who Saves

 

Do not be afraid
and fearful

nor let your hands
fall limp

for I am a Warrior
who saves

the Lord your God
in your midst.

On The Verge

“And he shall say to them, ‘Hear, O Israel: Today you are on the verge of battle with your enemies; do not let your heart faint, do not be afraid, and do not tremble or be terrified of them’.” Deuteronomy 20:3

The people of Israel HAD to enter into battle. So do we.

Oh Lord, we desire to see and enter onto the spiritual battlefield before us each day. And here is a simple poem . . .

The Good Fight

I’m on the verge of battle
but not even aware
so the enemy keeps taking
everything that’s there.

But You have given me a weapon
it’s powerful and called prayer –
time to awake and be a warrior,
to truly fight if indeed I care.

Warrior Child

“Lest perhaps the people change their minds when they see war, and return to Egypt.”  Exodus 13:17

After the children of Israel were driven out of Egypt, they begin to be referred to as the “armies of the Lord.” (Exodus 12:41)  Their status was changing along with their responsibilities.  God in His infinite wisdom carefully nurtured them along, not thrusting them into battle too soon.

Father, thank You for adopting me as Your child, but also for growing me to be a warrior.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Wilderness Training

Lead me, Lord,
in the wilderness way,
teach me what
I can only learn there,
about leaning on You
day and night
with a cloud of witnesses
and Your Holy Spirit light.
