There Will Be War

You know about
my weaknesses

I have yet to
overcome

leading me through
the wilderness

teaching of the war You’ve
already won.

The One who knows my frailities, is with me.

“So it happened, when Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, even though it was nearer; for God said, ‘The people might change their minds when they see war [that is, that there will be war], and return to Egypt.’ “

“But God led the people around by way of the wilderness toward the Red Sea; the sons of Israel went up in battle array (orderly ranks, marching formation) out of the land of Egypt.”

My Called

War will be made
against Me

but I will
overcome

and those with Me
are My called

My faithful
chosen ones.

Jesus establishes my faithfulness.

“These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful. “. Revelation 17:14 NKJV

Chosen and Faithful

“These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called chosen, and faithful.”  Revelation 17:14 NKJV

I am thinking about God choosing me vs. just me choosing Him.

Thank You, God, for choosing and infusing us so that we may be called chosen and faithful.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Though they make
war against Me

they will be
overcome

and you shall be
with Me

My faithful
chosen ones.

God bless you as you are with Him today!

For Peace

“I am for peace;
But when I speak, they are for war.”  Psalm 120:7

The Word wars for our souls.

Lord, thank You for giving us peace amidst the battles. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Peace of Christ

Oh Lord
when we’re amongst
those who only
want to fight

may the peace
of who You are
come first and fully
into light.

Taking The Land

“So Joshua took all the land; the mountain country, all the south, all the land of Goshen, the lowland, and the Jordan plains – the mountains of Israel and its lowlands, (Joshua 11:16)
from mount Halak and the assent to Seir, even as far as Baal Gad in the valley of Lebanon below Mount Hermon. (Joshua 11:17)
Joshua made war a long time with all those kings. (Joshua 11:18)
There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, except the Hivites, the inhabitants of Gibeon. All the others they took in battle.” (Joshua 11:19)

Though chapter 11 of Joshua was a quick read, the reality of it lived out was much longer.

Lord, please prepare me and sustain me in the spiritual battles and warfare that happen everyday. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Like Oil and Water

There can be no peace
between good and evil
no making amends
no working things out.

Battles go on
and wars are fought
whether we realize
and like it or not.

None Missing

“Then the officers who were over thousands of the army, the captains of thousands, and the captains of hundreds, came near to Moses;
and they said to Moses, ‘Your servants have taken a count of the men of war who are under our command, and not a man of us is missing.'” Numbers 31:48-49

Some day we’ll be saying the same thing, as we gather in heaven.

Thank You Lord, for keeping us forever in Your care, watching over us and not allowing any to be snatched away. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Worth It

The day’s been tough
the hour long
the struggles more
like war,
what a comfort
to look around
and see all here
and worth fighting for.

Numbered

“As the Lord commanded Moses, so he numbered them in the Wilderness of Sinai.” Numbers 1:19
“So all who were numbered of the children of Israel, by their fathers’ houses, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war in Israel – all who were numbered were six hundred and three thousand five hundred and fifty.” Numbers 1:45-46

We don’t normally like being numbered – or thought of as a number – or even taking numbers.

Lord God, thank You for numbering us among Your army, for counting us as worthy. May we ever be ready to go to war for You, whether it be on our feet or on our knees. And here is a simple poem . . .

Fit to Fight

I have been numbered, counted
approved to go to war
so what am I hanging back
turning away and hiding for?
As You have already gone ahead
and won the fight
let me not be afraid
to join forces for what is right.
