Better Than

Blessed are you
as you keep My ways
and listen to
My truth

for My wisdom and understanding
are better than wealth
and I will not
forsake you.

A laid down life listens to excellent things.

“Listen, for I will speak of excellent things, and from the opening of my lips will come right things; for my mouth will speak truth. Receive my instruction , and not silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold; for wisdom is better than rubies, and all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her. Now therefore, listen to me, my children, for blessed are those who keep my ways.” Proverbs 8:6,7,10,11,32 NKJV

Paths Of Peace

Ask Me for wisdom
and understanding
and I will give them
to you

adding paths of peace
and pleasantness
and grace to see
you through.

A laid down life is given the confidence of God.

“Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. Do not be afraid of sudden terror, nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes; for the LORD will be your confidence , and will keep your foot from being caught. He . . .gives grace to the humble.” Proverbs 3:13,17,25,26,34 NKJV

Stored Up Wisdom

As you
receive My word
and treasure
My command

you will find
the knowledge of God
your heart will
understand.

A laid down life has wisdom stored up for it.

“My son, if your receive my words , and treasure my commands within you, so that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; then you will understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright.” Proverbs 2:1,2,5,6

Instruction

Ask Me for wisdom
and understanding
accept My counsel
and reproof

for this is the way
to knowledge
how to dwell safe
and secure.

A laid down life receives instruction.

“A wise man will hear and increase learning, and a man of understanding will attain wise counsel. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge. Turn at my reproof; surely I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you. Whoever listens to me will dwell safely, and will be secure, without fear of evil.” Proverbs 1:5,7,23,33 NKJV

In Our Own Tongues

source - Wikipedia

source – Wikipedia

” – we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.”  Acts 2:11 NKJV

Language is not a problem for God.

Thank You, Lord, for speaking to me in a way I’ll understand.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

You talk to me
in a way
that I can
understand

for though You always
remain the same
You speak uniquely
to each lamb.

God bless you as He speaks your language today!

God’s Answer

220px-Rumunia_5806

“So Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, ‘It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace.’ ”  Genesis 41:15 NKJV

I’m not good at understanding the meaning of what I’m going through while I’m going through it.

Thank You, Lord, for interpreting our lives and dreams according to Your plans and promises.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Only You know
the measure of our days

and hear us
as we pray

only You can interpret
our lives and dreams

when nothing is
as it seems.

God bless you as He gives you knowledge and understanding today.

Not Now

“Jesus answered and said to him, ‘What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this.’ ” John 13:9 NKJV

I hope to understand that I don’t always have to understand.

Thank You, Lord, for always knowing what You are doing.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Lord, I know
You love me

and always do
what’s best

so even though I
don’t understand now

I can trust You
and be blessed.

God bless you through the times you don’t understand what He is doing.

Then I Understood

“When I thought how to understand this,
It was too painful for me –
Until I went into the sanctuary of God;
Then
I understood their end.”  Psalms 73:16-17

Life isn’t fair . . .at first glance.

Lord, let us pray and see with mercy and compassion those who look like they have it all – but they don’t have You.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Consider                                                                        images

So hard to understand
how they can just
get away
with all of this

but then You
remind me to consider
this is not
all there is.

Searching and Seeking

“The Lord looks down from heaven
Upon the children of men,
To see if there are any who
understand, who seek God.”  Psalm 14:2

There were an average of 4,717,000,000 searches made on Google per day in 2011.

Lord, may we understand more and more, the importance of seeking you. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Better Than Google

Each day I look
for many things
and most of them
I find

but nothing’s as great
as seeking God
for He’s what I need
all the time.

How Long?

“Then Bildad the Shuhite answered and said;

‘How long till you put an end to words?
Gain understanding, and afterward we will speak.'”   Job 18:1-2

Bildad forgot he had gone to Job at Job’s place . . .and he could leave.

Lord, today I desire to sit with You and just listen without feeling compelled to speak. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Finally

Job rebuked by his friends / William Blake

I come to You
throughout the day
fractured times
prayers splinter away.

You stay the same
You never leave
till I can finally
listen and lean.
