A Great Light

Help has come
we have a Savior

for unto us
Christ was born

bringing light to
our current darkness

and forever hope
each new dawn.

*********

You establish light in our darkness.

*********

“The people who walk in darkness
will see a great light.
For those who live in a land of deep darkness,
a light will shine . . .”

“For a child is born to us,
a son is given.
The government will be on his shoulders.
And He will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
His government and its peace
will never end.
He will rule with fairness and justice from the
throne of His ancestor David for all eternity.
The passionate commitment of the LORD of Heaven’s
Armies
will make this happen!”

Isaiah 9:2, 6-7

Looking On Hearts

I look upon
the heart

and open up
the eyes

until the unseen
is seen

and what’s important
is magnified.

*********

You establish how to see.

**********

“Samuel took one look at Eliab and thought, ‘Surely this is the LORD’S anointed!’ “.

“But the LOtD said to Samuel, ‘Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The LORD doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.’ “

her own

” ‘Look,’ Naomi said to her, ‘your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and to her gods. You should do the same.’ “

“But Ruth replied, ‘Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go. I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God. Wherever you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the LORD punish me severely if I allow anything but death to separate us.’ “

“Now swear to me by the LORD that you will be kind to me and my family since I have helped you. Give me some guarantee that when Jericho is conquered, you will let me live, along with my father and mother, my brothers and sisters, and all their families . . .”

“Before they left, the men told her . . . ‘When we come into the land, you must leave this scarlet rope hanging from the window through which you let us down. And all your family members – your father, mother, brothers, and all your relatives – must be here inside the house . . .’ “

” ‘I accept your terms, ‘ she replied. And she sent them on their way, leaving the scarlet rope hanging from the window.”

God Intentions

From the greatest evil
ever done

Christ nailed upon
the cross

You brought forth
the greatest good

salvation for
the lost.

*********

You establish good from the bad.

“So they sent this message to Joseph: ‘Before your father died, he instructed us to say to you: “Please forgive your brothers for the great wrong they did to you – for their sin in treating you so cruelly.” So we, the servants of the God of your father, beg you to forgive our sin.’ When Joseph received the message, he broke down and wept. Then his brothers came and threw themselves down before Joseph. ‘Look, we are your slaves,’ they said.”

“But Joseph replied, ‘Don’t be afraid of me. Am I God, that I can punish you? You intended to harm me but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.’ “

In This Place

I have come down
from heaven

in order to carry
you home

no long lists of how to’s
or rungs to climb

I give you rest and call you
My own.

**********

You establish Yourself as the way, so the only step I have to take is into Your arms.

***********

“Jacob left Beersheba and traveled toward Haran. At sundown he arrived at a good place to set up camp and stopped there for the night. Jacob found a stone to rest his head against and lay down to sleep. As he slept, he dreamed of a stairway that reached from the earth up to heaven. And he saw the angels of God going up and down the stairway.”

“At the top of the stairway stood the LORD, and He said, ‘I am the LORD the God of your grandfather Abraham, and the God of your father Isaac. The ground you are lying on belongs to you. I am giving it to you and your descendants. Your descendants will be as numerous as the dust of the earth. They will spread out in all directions – to the west and the east, to the north and the south. And all the families of the earth will be blessed through you and your descendants. What’s more, I am with you and I will protect you wherever you go. One day I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have finished giving you everything I have promised you.’ “

“Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, ‘Surely the LORD is in this place, and I wasn’t even aware of it.’ “.

God Provides

You truly see
my every need
knowing how and when
to provide it

as You gave up
Your only son
and didn’t withhold Him
from us.

*********

You establish my provision.

*********

“When they reached the place God had told him about, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it. He bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. But the angel of the LORD called out to him from heaven, ‘Abraham! Abraham!’ “

” ‘ Here I am, ‘ he replied.”

” ‘Do not lay a hand on the boy,’ he said. ‘Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.’ “

“Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. So Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide.”

Genesis 22:9-14 NIV

Laughter

Hard pressed
barren

out of time

yet we can joy
in Jesus

knowing His ways are
lovingkind.

**********

You establish the gift of laughter.

**********

“The LORD kept His word and did for Sarah exactly what He had promised. She became pregnant, and she gave birth to a son for Abraham in his old age. This happened at just the time God said it would. And Abraham named their son Isaac. Eight days after Isaac was born, Abraham circumcised him as God had commanded. Abraham was 100 years old when Isaac was born.”

“And Sarah declared, ‘God has brought me laughter. All who hear about this will laugh with me. Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse a baby? ¬†Yet I have given Abraham a son in his old age!’ “

Genesis 21:1-7

Blessed To Be A Blessing

I will send you blessings
upon blessings

you will be full
of Me

and never lack
a gift to give

from now through
eternity.

**********

You establish me as a blessing.

“The LORD had said to Abram, ‘Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you . . .and you will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”
“So Abram departed as the LORD had instructed and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran. He took his wife, Sarai, his nephew Lot, and his wealth – his livestock and all the people he had taken into his household at Haran – and headed for the land of Canaan. When they arrived in Canaan, Abram traveled through the land as far as Shechem. There he set up camp beside the oak of Moreh. At that time the area was inhabited by Canaanites. ”
“Then the LORD appeared to Abram and said, ‘I will give thIs land to your descendants.’ And Abram built an altar there and dedicated it to the LORD, who had appeared to him.”
