Torn

“Now it happened, when the king heard the words of the Law, that he tore his clothes.”  2 Chronicles 34:19

Prophetic words and visions have been given about America.

Oh Lord, may we tear away our pride and humble ourselves, weeping before You in the state we find ourselves in.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Now That We’ve Heard

We tear away at our pretense
and weep before You Lord
for You are great and we have wondered
far from Your word.

Oh may we be humbled
by what we’ve just heard
and seek for Your mercy
here upon this earth.

With Him

“And one of the servants of the king of Israel answered and said, ‘Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah.'”  2 Kings 3:11

“And Jehoshaphat said, ‘The word of the Lord is with him.'”  2 Kings 3:12

Jehoshaphat just knew . . .he had no doubt.

Lord, we long to be a people of which it is said, “the word of the Lord is with them.”  And here is a simple poem . . .

Let It Be Said

Oh let it be said
that in you I can be found

that when someone seeks to hear
they don’t have to search around

that when you open up your mouth
the word comes out alive

able to deliver
the truth and the light.

Please Inquire

“And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, ‘Please inquire for the word of the Lord today.'” 1 Kings 22:5

Jehoshaphat was willing to go with Ahab to fight at Ramoth Gilead against Syria . . .he just wanted to hear from God about it first.

Lord, I’m willing to go,  just really need to hear from You today. And here’s a simple poem . . .

What Do You Think

I want to help out
and lend my support
so much to be done
but before I set forth
let’s just ask You Lord
for a word today
and see what it is
that You have to say.

Thank you for blessing me along. Next week I’m back in the New Testament with Ephesians.  🙂

By The Word Of The Lord

“And he said, I cannot return with you nor go in with you; neither can I eat bread nor drink water with you in this place. For I have been told by the word of the Lord, ‘You shall not eat bread nor drink water there, nor return by going the way you came.'”  1 Kings 13:17

“He said to him, ‘I too am a prophet as you are, and an angel spoke to me by the word of the Lord, saying, “Bring him back with you to your house, that he may eat bread and drink water.'”  But he lied to him.”  1 Kings 13:18

Otherwise good and godly people can ask us to do things that just aren’t right for us.

Lord, I pray to want for others what You want for them and have asked them to do.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

What You Want

Lord, if I detain
someone for me
when they are on
a mission for You

please quicken my heart
to let them go
to do what You
want them to.
