What Manner of Spirit

“And when His disciples James and John saw this they said, ‘Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?'”
“But He turned and rebuked them and said, ‘You do not know what manner of spirit you are of.'”
“For the Son of Man did not cone to destroy man’s lives but to save them.” Luke 9:54-56 NKJV

Sometimes my initial reaction  is to think something is bad, that God later shows me is good.

Thank You, Lord, for Your Holy Spirit that teaches and guides us always unto You.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Oh Lord, humble me
and this flesh

that doesn’t know
You completely yet

nor what manner
of Spirit You are

that comes close to save
and not destroy from afar.

God bless you as He shows you what manner of Spirit you are of today!

He’s Come To Save

“For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost.”  Matthew 18:11  NKJV

Being lost brings feelings of helplessness and hopelessness.

Thank You, Lord, for loving to save that which is lost.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Lost and sinking
slowly down

no hope of ever
being found

but for Jesus
who delights to save

each and every
sheep that strays.

God bless you as He rejoices over you today!

Watching

“Watch therefore for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.”  Matthew  25:13

When someone has told us they will give us a ride, we watch and wait for them to come.

Lord Jesus, thank You for promising to come again and pick us up for the ride of our lives.  May our excitement as we watch for You draw many others to start looking too.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Waiting For Our Ride

Watching, waiting
greatly anticipating
knowing what we see now
is not all there is.

For there will be a day
when all this passes away
and we’ll live together forever
as His.

Lost and Found

“For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost.”  Matthew 18:11

Our blind cat slipped out the door undetected once.  I felt sick.  Couldn’t eat or sleep.  I called and searched, posted pictures and went door to door. After a neighbor found her a few houses down, Jesus used it to remind me how He feels about the lost.

Oh Lord, please give me Your heart for those who are lost and apart from You today.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

His Lost

Something lost
is apart from us
even though
it still exists,
like hearts and souls
that He created
to be with Him
to be His.
