Confession Time

“I acknowledged my sin to You,
and my iniquity I have not hidden.
I said, ‘I will confess my
transgressions to the LORD.’
And You forgave the iniquity of
my sin.”  Psalms 32:5

In order to confess my sins, I must first acknowledge them.

Lord, thank You for Your forgiveness as I come confessing today.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

When I Know

May I be quick
to acknowledge

and confess
my sin

trusting You
will forgive me

and make me
new again.

No Wrong

“In all this Job did not sin or charge God with wrong.”  Job 1:22

Holy Spirit conviction and correction is different then a spiritual attack, which comes out of no where and leaves us with an over-all “bad” feeling.

Lord, we love You and know You can do no wrong.  When problems arise, may we seek You first, knowing You love us and will warn us of specific sin in our lives and tell us what to do about it. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Blame Less

Job lost everything
in one day

his whole world
fell away

he tore his clothes
he wept, he prayed

but blame on God
he did not lay.

We Have Sinned

” . . .please let Your ear be attentive and Your eyes open, that You may hear the prayer of Your servant which I pray before You now, day and night, for the children of Israel Your servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel which we have sinned against You.  Both my father’s house and I have sinned.”  Nehemiah 1:6

We tend to notice other people’s sins.

Lord, help me pray “please forgive us”, not “please forgive them.”  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Fallen

We are
a fallen people

though You raise
us up again

so I confess
and ask forgiveness

for we all
we all have sinned.

Made Alive

“And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sin . . .”  Ephesians 2:1

I still remember how it felt before He made me alive.

Thank You, Lord, for not leaving me dead in my sins, but dying for me so I could be made alive.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Who Once Was Dead

I was dead inside
and wanted to die
and thought nothing
would ever change me.

Then You made me alive
so now I can’t hide
this smile
and rejoicing.  😀

His Longing

“So Absalom fled and went to Gashur, and was there three years.”  2 Samuel 13:38
“And King David longed to go to Absalom.  For he had been comforted concerning Amnon, because he was dead.”  2 Samuel 13:39

God longs to come even though we sin, nail His Son to the cross and flee.

Lord, thank You for the comfort of salvation and your resurrection power.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

To Be With You Always

I long to be with you
but we’re separated by your sin
so I sent My Jesus
and though you crucified Him
He brought the Comforter
My Holy Spirit has come
to be with You always
through the Christ, My Son.

Set Free Slaves

“But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.” Romans 6:22

When I think of slavery, I feel it’s oppression . . .like a dark tunnel with no light at the end.

Lord, we rejoice in being Your slaves, free to bear fruit and walk a path flooded with Your light and love, leading us to everlasting holiness. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Alive To Him

Dead to sin
and under grace

alive in Him
Who took our place

no longer slaves
to lawlessness

but free to seek
His Holiness.

A Deliverer

“So the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord. They forgot the Lord their God, and served the Baals and Asherahs.” Judges 3:7
“Therefore the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel, and He sold them into the hand of Cushan-Rishathaim king of Mesopotamia; and the children of Israel served Cushan-Rishathaim eight years.” Judges 3:8
“When the children of Israel cried out to the Lord, the Lord raised up a deliverer for the children of Israel, who delivered them: Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother.” Judges 3:9

God has raised up a deliverer for us all in His Son, Jesus.

Lord, no matter where or to what depths our sin has taken us, let us cry out to You now and be saved. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Cry Out To Jesus

I kept falling farther
and farther down the stairs

no sense trying to climb out
I couldn’t get up from there

every move sunk me deeper
and deeper into despair

until I cried out to Jesus
and He became my answer and my prayer.

Dropping Rocks

“So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, ‘He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first’.” John 8:7
“And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground.” John 8:8
“Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience went out one by one beginning with the oldest even to the last.” John 8:9

I am so encouraged that there was not one there who thought they were without sin . . .who stayed to throw a stone.

Jesus, thank You that we can’t deny our sin in Your presence. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Truth Thrown

Rock drops
mouth opens
can’t believe
what I see

my own sin
where I’d seen others
plainly staring
back at me.

Dear readers . . .I goofed. Somehow I forgot to do a devotion from John chapter 7, as this is from chapter 8. Will work on that with Him for tomorrow! 🙂

God Walking

“For the Lord your God walks in the midst of your camp, to deliver you and give your enemies over to you; therefore your camp shall be holy, that He may see no unclean thing among you, and turn away from you.” Deuteronomy 23:14

God walks among His people Israel because He wants to. He wants to be with them. He loves them.

Jesus, thank You for walking among us, living within us . . .for wanting to do that, for loving us that much. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Amidst Us

God looks at us
and sees You

making us holy
through and through

delivering us
from the control of sin

defeating the enemy
again and again.

Sabbath Blessings

“And remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and that the Lord your God brought you out from there by a mighty hand and by an out stretched arm; therefore the Lord your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath Day.” Deuteronomy 5:15

God commanded a Sabbath for the people to remember and worship Him, and by so doing, be blessed.

O Lord, may we stop in our striving often to praise and worship You. And here’s a simple poem . . .

A Servant’s Rest

Your mighty hands blocked the stakes
that were meant for me

Your arms stretched out a way
so I could be free

from my slavery to sin
where there was never rest

to being a servant with a Sabbath
whose every day is blessed.
