Our Resting Place

I am the Rod
from the stem of Jesse

the One upon whom
the Spirit rests

full of wisdom
and understanding

I judge the poor
with righteousness.

Jesus establishes our glorious resting place.

“There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots. The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.
His delight is in the fear of the LORD, and He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, nor decide by the hearing of His ears, but with righteousness He shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth . . .
And in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse, who shall stand as a banner to the people; for the Gentiles shall seek Him, and His resting place shall be glorious.” Isaiah 11:1,2,3,4,10 NKJV

An Overflow

Even from this

will overflow

and I will
take away

the heavy burden
and yoke you know.

Jesus establishes what manner of yoke and burden I bear.

“For though your people, O Israel, be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them will return; the destruction decreed shall overflow with righteousness. It will come to pass in that day that his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, and his yoke from your neck, and the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil.” Isaiah 10:22,27 NKJV

True Judgements

I am coming
to judge the earth
in truth and

Blessed are you who
wait and watch
wearing your praise

Jesus establishes judgements.

“And I heard another from the altar saying, ‘Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are Your judgements.’ Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches , and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.” Revelation 16:7,15 NKJV

I will forgive
your iniquities
and cover all
your sin

My footsteps
shall be your pathway
to truth
again and again.

A laid down life walks in His footsteps.

“You have forgiven the iniquity of Your people; You have covered all their sin. Truth shall spring out of the earth. Righteousness will go before Him and shall make His footsteps our pathway.” Psalm 85:2,11,13 NKJV

Made Known

“The LORD has made known His
His righteousness He has openly
shown in the sight of the nations.”  Psalm 98:2

Jesus had / has a very public ministry.

Lord, thank You for always making Yourself known to us.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Right Here

My salvation
I have made known

My righteousness
is clearly shown

so you can come to Me
for I am here

seek Me
for I am near.

“Mercy and truth have met together;
Righteousness and peace have
kissed each other.”  Psalms 85:10

I can’t handle the truth without mercy, and without righteousness there is no peace.

Lord, thank you for being the perfectly balanced combination of everything we need.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

All Together

Mercy and truth
have met together

righteousness and peace
have kissed

hope and forgiveness
walk hand in hand

while Love weds sacrifice
making her His.

Righteous Before God

“Then Bildad the Shuhite answered and said, . . .
How then can man be righteous before God?”  Job 25:1,4

Job was blameless and upright before God . . .but I was not.

Thank You, Lord, for covering me in Your righteousness.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Plain To See

source – kngdm-art.com

It was plain to see
I was not righteous

not so hard to say
I need You, Lord

and still today
I come before You

held up by
all You gave.

Also For Us

“Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him,
but also for us.” Romans 4:23-24

Amazing how God writes on our hearts so personally, but with far reaching effects.

Father, thank you for setting faith in motion that by Your grace the seed of Abraham yet abides. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Birth of Faith

Heir of
the whole earth

through the righteousness
of faith

Abraham believed
God’s promise

and by grace
his seed is saved.

Not Because of Our Righteousness

“Therefore understand that the Lord your God is not giving you this good land to possess because of your righteousness, for you are a stiff-necked people.” Deuteronomy 9:6

Chapter 9 was a tough one. Moses went back over all the times the people had rebelled and provoked the Lord to wrath.

Thank You, Lord, that though I’m not good enough to deserve anything from You, You are good enough and give it. And here’s a simple poem . . .

He’s That Good

I’m sinful, rebellious
my righteousness just rags

satan rubs his hands together
thinks he’s got me in the bag

but then I come to Jesus
with my filthy life

and He carries me to the Father
washed in His sacrifice.

A Holy Permit

“But Jesus answered, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.”  Matthew 3:15

John didn’t want to baptize Jesus.  It just didn’t seem right.

Jesus, thank You for all You “permitted to be so”, in order to fulfill the prophecy and promise of being our Savior and King.  Here’s a simple poem . . .

With His Permission

I can’t see the good
in what is happening
only the pain
misery and suffering
then You whisper to me
“permit it to be so”
and I can go on
knowing that You know.
