Laying Hold

 

It is impossible
for God to lie

so our consolation’s
strong

and we can run
for refuge

to the hope where we
belong.

Psalm 46 Selah

 

Only when I
stop striving

can I see how
magnificent You are

how present You
are with me

no need to fear
at all.

Refuge

 

I pour out
my heart to You

my Refuge
my Safe Place

for I know You
are oh so strong

and full of
love and grace.

Safety

 

You shall
be found in Me
and I will
give you food

a safe place
to lie down
a hope and a
refuge.

Jesus establishes my refuge.

“The firstborn of the poor will feed, and the needy will lie down in safety. What will one then answer the messengers of the nation? That the LORD has founded Zion, and the poor of His people shall take refuge in it.” Isaiah 14:30,32 NKJV

Soul Care

 

I am your portion
and refuge forever
though you’ve been brought low
I will care for your soul

delivering you out from
unjust persecution
surrounding you with gladness
My bounty will flow.

A laid down life has a cared for soul.

“I declare before Him my trouble. For there is no one who acknowledges me; refuge has failed me; no one cares for my soul. I cried out to You, O LORD; I said, ‘You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.’ Attend to my cry, for I am brought very low; deliver me from my persecutors. Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise Your name; the righteous shall surround me, for You shall deal bountifully with me.” Psalm 142:2,4,5,6,7. NKJV

Eyes On Me

 

Keep your eyes
upon Me
for I
am your refuge

not letting you fall
into evil traps
nor leaving you
destitute.

A laid down life has a refuge.

“But my eyes are upon You, O God the LORD; in You I take refuge; do not leave my soul destitute. Keep me from the snares which they have laid for me, and from the traps of the workers of iniquity. Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I escape safely.” Psalm 141:8,9,10. N KJV

My Defense

Wait for Me
My beloved
for I am
your defense

your refuge in
the day of trouble
the One from whom
all mercy’s sent.

Oh Lord, thank You. You are my Defender, my Redeemer . . .how merciful are You.  My Refuge in the day of trouble; Your strength always sees me through.

“But I will sing of Your power;
Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning;
For You have been my defense
And refuge in the day of my trouble.
To You, O my Strength, I will sing praises,
For God is my defense
The God of my mercy.”  Psalm 59:16-17 NKJV

Someone To Care

“Look on my right hand and see,
For there is no one who
acknowledges me;
Refuge has failed me;
No one cares for my soul.”  Psalm 142:4

David was running for His life and hiding out in caves.

Lord, thank You for sending people who cared about my soul when I was running from life and hiding in caves of addiction.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Refuge

David doesn’t ask God to make it all go away.

Lord, may every calamity we go through deepen our relationship with You.  And here’s a simple poem . . .
