Marching Orders

“Now Jericho was securely shut up because of the children of Israel; none went out and none came in.” Joshua 6:1

Often when we have a problem that’s blocking us from moving ahead, we let it run around and around in our heads, exhausting us. God had the children of Israel march around the problem instead.

Oh Lord, we praise and thank You that whenever problems occur that try to keep us from doing what You’ve asked us to do, it becomes yet another opportunity for You to show Yourself strong and mighty. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Our Jerichoes

The situation seems impossible
like a done deal
there’s no way in or out for us
our emotions sag and reel.

But God has a way when
problems make us feel small
and by His strength and power
He’ll be glorified through it all.

Telling Jesus . . .what to do?

“When the day began to wear away, the twelve came and said to Him, ‘Send the multitudes away . . .'” Luke 9:12

Sometimes I do just what the disciples did . . .tell Jesus what to do. Gulp.

Thank You, Lord, for reminding me to want what You want, for Your will to be done in me and in this place today. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Do What You Want

I see a problem
and just want it fixed

and without much thought
tell You to do it quick

forgetting what You taught me
about praying for Your will

resting in Your promises
trusting You more still.

On Moving Mountains

“”. . .if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, “Move from here to there”, and it will move. . .”  Matthew 17:20

Mountains are seen as majestic, intimidating, rugged, insurmountable . . . but movable?  Not so much.

Thank You, Jesus, for the reminder that even mountains are subject to Your will.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

from here to there

problems spring up
mountain high
I think to go
under, over, around
or through
completely forgetting
to simple say

Do you need a mountain to move? Let’s pray . . .

Bearing the Burden

“Then it will be that every great matter they shall bring to you, but every small matter they themselves shall judge.  So it will be easier for you, for they will bear the burden with you.  If you do this thing, and God so commands you, then you will be able to endure, and all this people will also go to their place in peace.”  Exodus 18:22-23

My pastor shared something during a sermon a long time ago that stuck with me.  He said that many of the problems people come to him with they could resolve themselves . . . simply by asking God about it.

Thank You, Lord, for all the wonderful and wise people You’ve put in my life, that seek You on my behalf and give me advice.  I also thank You that I can come to You myself with anything at anytime and find the help I need. Here’s a simple poem . . .

Our Part

We can’t be responsible
for everyone, everywhere

but we can sit at His feet
we can learn, we can share

lightening the burdens
that each one of us must bear.
