Wait For Me

Wait for Me
until I rise up

for then I will
restore

taking away your
prideful voices

so you can call on Me
in one accord.

**********

I can wait on You for You are with me.

” ‘Therefore wait for Me,’ says the LORD, ‘until the day I rise up for plunder;’ “

“For I will restore to the people a pure language, that they may all call on the name of the LORD, to serve Him with one accord.”

“In that day you shall not be shamed for any of your deeds in which you transgress against Me, for then I will take away from your midst those who rejoice in your pride, and you shall no longer be haughty in My holy mountain.”

Part 2: More Personal Application

Deadheading the little basket of petunias, newly bought, there is more to take.off than blooming. I think about those things You have removed from my life in the last years. How it pinched. How barren and lost I felt without them. Then You say, “Therefore wait for Me.”

Dead Wood

Pride
never profits

never comes
to any good

though tall
as a tree

it topples like
dead wood.

Only You establish strength.

“. . . it’s branches have fallen on the mountains and in all the valleys; its boughs lie broken by all the rivers of the land; and all the peoples of the earth have gone from under its shadow and left it.” Ezekiel 31:12 NKJV

Not a god

I am
a simple woman
and You are
my God

full of love
and understanding
merciful
to all

I am not
a god
but know the One
who is

the Lifter
of my heart
that keeps trust
with His.

You establish Yourself as God.

“Because your heart is lifted up, and you say, ‘I am a god, I sit in the seat of gods, in the midst of the seas, ‘ yet you are a man, and not a god, though you set your heart as the heart of a god. . . “. Ezekiel 28:2 NKJV

Uncovered

“. . .And I will uncover her foundations.

All her carved images shall be beaten to pieces . . .”  Micah 1:6-7

Micah was pronouncing the coming judgement on Israel.

Thank You, Father, for uncovering areas of my life that I need to confess and ask forgiveness for.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Uncover my
foundations
break in pieces
what You find

if it is not
of You, Lord
but of myself
and pride.

God bless you as you allow Him to uncover your heart today!

Brought Down

Though you exalt yourself as high as the eagles,
And though you set your nest among the stars,
From there I will bring you down, ” says the Lord.”   Obadiah vs. 4

Edom had pride issues.  So do I.

Thank You, Lord, for loving me, but not my pride.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

I have exalted myself
before You

I have set my nest
up high

forgive me, Lord
and correct me

strip me of
my pride.

God bless you and love on you today!

Move Me

“He has said in his heart,
‘I shall not be moved;'”  Psalm 10:6

It is a red flag for me, whenever I realize I’m telling God what I shall not do.

Lord, thank You for moving me so I can be close to You.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Moved Closer

In stubbornness and pride
I decide
what I will
and will not do

then Your wisdom and love comes
moving me
so I can be
closer and closer to You.

Carry Into Captivity

“And he carried out from there all the treasures of the house of the LORD and the treasures of the kings house . . .”  2 Kings 24:13

“Also he carried into captivity all Jerusalem; all the captains and all the mighty men of valor, ten thousand captives, and all the  crasftsmen and smiths.  None remained except the poorest people of the land.”  2 Kings 24:14

What a shock it must have been to see their lives dismantled.

Lord, please carry into captivity all my rebellious thoughts today. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Lock It Up

Please, carry away
what’s proud in me
lock it up
and throw away the key
leaving behind
the poor and needy
that begs to let
You be all it seeks.

When Deceived

“But when the inhabitants of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done to Jericho and Ai,
they worked craftily, and went and pretended to be ambassadors. (Joshua 9:3-4)
So Joshua made peace with them, and made a covenant with them, to let them live; and the rulers of the congregation swore to them. (Joshua 9:15)
And it happened at the end of three days, after they had made a covenant with them, that they heard that they were their neighbors who dwelt near them. (Joshua 9:16)
Then all the rulers said to all the congregation, ‘We have sworn to them by the Lord God of Israel; now therefore we may not touch them’.” (Joshua 9:19)

The children of Israel weren’t happy that the rulers had mistakenly made a covenant with a nearby people.

Oh Lord, I ask for grace when I’ve been deceived, in order to do what would please and honor You above my hurting pride. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Pleasing Him

Being made a fool of
over and over again
embarrassed and angry
wanting to exact revenge
but better pride be wounded
and we more humbly live
to please and honor
and give glory to Him.

So He Humbled

“So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord.” Deuteronomy 8:3

There can be God reasons beyond our reasoning.

Thank You, Lord, for knowing what I need to stay lovingly humble and obedient before you. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Allowing This

It’s humbling to be
lovingly led
taken by the hand
and graciously fed
but better for us
in the long run
that pride be wrecked
and overcome.

Wind and Wave Obey

“Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea.  And there was a great calm.”  Matthew 8:26

Sometimes when I’m in a stormy situation, I find it’s my pride that rises high and starts whipping around.

Jesus, please rebuke that pride in me and restore the calm of a humble heart.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Sinking in a Sea of Self

Internal storms rock me
in ways external ones cannot
– chaotic waves of rebellion
– stiff winds of pride
drive me to the bottom
until You speak truth
– quietly diminishing
– my sea of self.
