Horses instinctively puff out their bellies when getting saddled.

We smile at the feel of warm tile under our feet.

Lead Me

to being led

The fawn really wants to be wherever it’s “mom” is .  . .it just gets distracted.

Those of us who have children learn quickly the importance of keeping our promises – our word – to them.

Jesus, thank You for being the Father’s promise, His Living Word, to us this day!

Here’s a simple poem to encourage us to keep our word.

Done Waiting

What lengths Tamar
would go to
to remind Judah
of his word –
of a promised son,
of a third husband.

“And she said, ‘Please determine whose these are –  the signet, and cord, and staff.’  So Judah acknowledged them and said ‘She has been more righteous than I, because I did not give her to Shelah my son.'”  Genesis 38:25-26

Voicing Dreams

As Aubrey’s mom and caregiver, her dreams morph into mine.  Recently, two of her dreams are coming true.  All it took was for me to voice them to others, risking possible rejection and getting laughed at.  It has definitely been worth the risk!

Jesus, thank You for facing rejection, mocking and a cross as You voiced Your Father’s dreams for us.

Here’s a simple poem to help us dream big!

My (Bad) Would-Be Advice

Joseph, lay low.  You
already have your father’s
ear and that fancy
coat . . .and ten crazy
jealous brothers.
Joseph, keep your dreams
to yourself. Play it safe,
and never be instrumental in
saving the children
of Israel.

“Now Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it to his brothers and they hated him even more.”  Genesis 37:5

Knowing Him

My husband took his lawn care test 3 weeks ago.  He passed and is waiting for his certificate that states he is licensed to treat lawns with various fertilizers and weed controls to make them look their best.

Jesus, as we pass the test of knowing You by keeping Your word,, we look forward to the love of God working in us and through us, helping us to be our best.

Here’s a simple poem to encourage us in knowing Him.

The Test

I will know
I know You
when what You say
I do,
and when it’s Your love
that I see
being perfected
inside of me.

“But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him.”  1 John 2:5

Devotion:  As I wrote “Better Is One Day: Getting Down to Business With Daily Devotions” (available at http://www.publishamerica.com) I often emailed my friend, Colleen, with questions and just for support.  Wise and full of knowledge, she’s my own personal resource person!

Prayer: Thank You, Jesus for the special teachers, pastors and friends you place in our lives who carry the wonderful knowledge of You.

Poem:  Here’s a simple poem of encouragement to all those who share Him with us in their own special ways!

Special Messengers

Thank You, Jesus
for the ones
who keep knowledge
on their tongues,
who know You
and how to share
with us who seek
Your heart in prayer.

“. . .For he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts . .”  Malachi 2:7
