I will teach you
to be mindful
of these things
the way I am

to see deeper
and look further
than the surface
and understand.

You establish my mindfulness of You.

“But He turned and said to Peter, ‘Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.'” Matthew 16:23 NKJV

What God Has Cleansed

“And a voice spoke to him again, the second time. “What God has cleansed you must not call common.”  Acts 10:13 NKJV

We all have something in common; we need cleansed.

Thank You, Lord, for cleansing us. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Thank You, Lord
for cleansing me
with oh so Holy

and covering me
with the righteousness
of Your uncommon

God bless you with His cleansing light.

Expecting To Receive

source - Wikipedia

source – Wikipedia

“And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, ‘Look at us.’ ”  Acts 3:4 NKJV
“So he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them.” Acts 3:5 NKJV

I try not to expect too much from others.

Thank You, Lord, for asking me to look at You and receive what You willingly give.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Look at Me
My children

and do not be

to expect good
from Me

for you are why
I came.

God bless you as you expect and receive from Him today!

The Things of God

“Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, ‘Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You.'”  Matthew 16:22 NKJV

“But He turned and said to Peter, ‘Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of man.'”  Matthew 16:23 NKJV

God has to keep correcting me from encouraging according to the things of men instead of the things of Him.

Thank You, Lord, for keeping us mindful of You and Your Kingdom ways.  And here is a simple poem . . .

When someone is downhearted
or in need of a helping hand

let me come to You first, Lord
to see if I can

offer an encouragement
from Your word and  in Your name

not just from myself
out of fear and pride’s domain.

God bless you as you stay mindful of Him today!

Two Visions

“About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God coming in and saying to him, ‘Cornelius!'” Acts 10:3
“I was in the city of Joppa praying; and in a trance I saw a vision, an object descending like a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came to me.” Acts 11:5

Both Cornelius and Peter were in prayer when they received a vision from God.

Lord, we desire to be people of prayer whom You can trust to send visions to, knowing we will respond. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Open Our Eyes

You gave Cornelius a vision
telling him what to do

while Peter saw the Gentiles
were clean too.

Open our eyes, Lord
to what You want us to see

please give us visions
for Your Kingdom’s glory.

You Follow Me

“Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, ‘but Lord, what about this man?'”
“Jesus said to him, ‘If I will that he remain til I come, what is that to you? You follow me’.” John 21:21-22

I have echoed Peter’s question many a time.

Thank You, Lord, for Your answer that moves me in the right direction when I get stuck focusing on someone else and what they are doing. And here’s a simple poem . . .

How To Walk

Show us, Lord, how to walk
and closely follow You
while we must be beside
those that hurt us too.

We know that You will make a way
for us to be true
to the One Whom we adore
and whoever You send us to.

On Monday I’ll be starting through the Book of Joshua . . .Old Testament time again! Thank you so much for helping me do this devotion/poem thing!

Idle Tales?

“Then they returned from the tomb and told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest.
And their words seemed to them like idle tales, and they did not believe them.
But Peter arose and ran to the tomb; and stooping down, he saw the linen clothes lying by themselves; and he departed, marveling to himself at what had happened.” Luke 24:9,11,12

The apostles had a hard time accepting the report the women gave. But, I love how Peter stooped down to take a closer look.

Oh Jesus, as we share the Good News that You are risen, we thank You for the evidence of Yourself You leave in each person’s life. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Looking Inside Our Tombs

The gospel sounds like a story
a children’s fairy tale
something that is made up
another crutch for sale
until you stop and take the time
to look inside your tomb
and find the evidence Jesus leaves
to convince and draw you.

One Look

“And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, ‘Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times’.” Luke 22:61
“Then Peter went out and wept bitterly.” Luke 22:62

Peter had followed Jesus at a distance and gotten into the courtyard. He may not have felt like he was even denying Jesus . . .until Jesus looked at him.

Lord, today we choose to stay close to the truth of You and Your word. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Moving Into View

From a distance
the truth
is harder
to see
moving closer
helps us
