A Perpetual Fire

“A perpetual fire shall burn on the altar, it shall never go out.” Leviticus 6:13

It takes time and care to keep a fire burning.

Lord, I pray to be perpetually blazing for You. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Lighting Fires

Gathering leaves and sticks
a little paper to start
our sidewalk fire

leaving the grass edges singed
my husband frowning
and the children excited

at the possibility of keeping
the flame alive.
