Seeing, Hearing, Knowing

 

I see
your oppression

and I hear
your cries

thus I know
your sorrows

and that your deliverance
is nigh.

The One who sees, hears and knows is with me.

“And the Lord said: ‘I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.’ “

“So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey . . .”

Exodus 3:7,8. NKJV

Be Established

 

With mercy I
will draw you close

kindness, peace
imbue

in righteousness
you will be found

shame and oppression
removed.

I am established by Your righteousness.

“My kindness shall not depart from you, nor shall My covenant of peace be removed, says the LORD, who has mercy on you. In righteousness you shall be established; you shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear . . .” Isaiah 54:10,14 NKJV

Anti-Oppressive

“. . .the earth feared and was still,
When God arose to judgement,
To deliver all the oppressed of the earth.”  Psalms 76:8-9

To oppress means: 1.) to weigh heavily on the mind of; burden  2.) to keep down by the cruel or unjust use of authority  3.)  to cause physical or mental distress.

Lord, thank You for being so anti-oppressive.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

De-Stressed

I’ll never oppress you.

My burden is light
My yoke is easy
and I have come
to save you.

The Heritage of Oppressors

“This is the portion of a wicked man with God
And the heritage of oppressors,
received from the Almighty . . .

Terrors overtake him like a flood
A tempest steals him away in the night . . .”  Job 27:13,20

The weight of oppression makes it tough to think of the ones abusing their power.

Lord, help me pray today for the oppressors to be set free.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Even These

Blinded by the oppression
makes it hard to see
that the one hurting others
could suffer eternally.

Inflicted pain is terrible
but there’s a death that never ends
so I pray, please draw them, Jesus
to their only Hope and true Friend.

My Deliverer

“So Jehoahaz pleaded with the Lord, and the Lord listened to him, for He saw the oppression of Israel, because the king of Syria oppressed them.”  2 Kings 13:4

“Then the Lord gave Israel a deliverer, so that they escaped from under the hand of the Syrians; and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents as before.”  2 Kings 13:5

I see this:
our pleading + God’s listening = deliverance

Lord, I’m pleading with You for deliverance of those who are being oppressed today.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Pleading

The oppression is so great
they can but hardly pray

and so I’m pleading with You
to please take it away

lift the heaviness
that keeps pushing them down

let them see their Deliverer
has come to save them now.

 

Out of Oppression

“He brought them out, after he had shown wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red Sea, and in the wilderness forty years.” Acts 7:36

Could times of oppression bring forth even more of His signs and wonders?

Lord, in the midst of our own situations, help us hold on to the miracle of You and Your deliverance. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Ripe For Wonders

Oppression comes from outside us
and pushes us to the ground

it laughs in the face of Jesus
and kicks us while we’re down

but it’s out of these places
that signs and wonders are seen

as His people cry out for deliverance
to the glory of their King.
