A Most Holy Offering

Most holy
doesn’t mean

the biggest and
the best

but the time
and loving care

the divine

Lord, I want to offer You my time, my hands, my heart.

“And what is left of the grain offering shall be Aaron’s and his sons’. It is a most holy offering of the offerings to the LORD made by fire.” Leviticus 2:10 NKJV

A Sweet Aroma

Whether it be
a bull or dove

or of the flocks
of sheep

it was what
was in their hearts

that made the offering

Lord, I want my life to be a sweet and soothing aroma to You, an offering by Holy Spirit fire.

“It is a burnt offering, an offering by fire, a sweet and soothing aroma to the LORD.”
Leviticus 1:17. NKJV

Dwelling Among Us

All whose hearts
are willing

who are moved
to give

will be My

where I choose
to live.

I give my heart willingly, for You are with me.

“From everyone who gives it willingly with his heart you shall take My offering.”

“And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them.”

Exodus 25:2,8. NKJV

“. . .every devoted offering is most holy to the Lord.” Leviticus 27:28

In chapter 27 of Leviticus, the verses prior to this one covered if a person or possession was consecrated by a vow to the Lord. A value would be placed on them and they could be bought back. But anything devoted to Lord was another matter.

Father, we thank You for holding on to each life devoted to You and seeing it as precious and irreplaceable. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Preciously Kept

A life devoted
in honor and love
to You
is considered most holy
kept and covered
made new.

This was the last post from Leviticus. Thank you for going through it with me! Tomorrow I return to the New Testament and the Gospel According to Mark. 🙂

What to Bring

“And if she is not able to bring a lamb then she may bring two turtle doves or two young pigeons – one as a burnt offering and the other as a sin offering.” Leviticus 12:8

I like this understanding that not every woman would be able to bring a lamb. So they could bring something smaller, even pigeons.

Jesus, thank You for accepting whatever we can offer today, even something as small as simple words of gratitude and praise. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Still Able

When it feels like I have nothing
good at all to bring
I’ll offer up my voice
and let Your praises sing.

When my hands are still empty
but my heart is over full
I’ll let my joy in You be known
for now and evermore.

Of Our Own Free Will

“If his offering is a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish; he shall offer it of his own free will at the door of the tabernacle of meeting before the Lord.” Leviticus 1:3

For some reason I thought of free will as more of an A.D. term. But really it has always been a matter of choice.

Oh Lord, let me come often before You to offer up my own free will for Your will that frees me.

Offering Everything

How much shall I offer
of my own free will
to open the door just a crack
or to fling it wider still?
And what would it feel like
to give You all I have
unasked and unafraid
to live Your will for me instead?

What are some of your thoughts on free will?
