A Rejoicing Tithe

” . . .you shall eat there before the Lord your God, and you shall rejoice, you and your household.” Deuteronomy 14:26
“”At the end of every third year you shall bring out the tithe of your produce of that year and store it up within your gates.” Deuteronomy 14:28
“And the Levite, because he has no portion nor inheritance among you and the stranger and the fatherless and the widow who are within your gates, they come and eat and be satisfied, that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do.” Deuteronomy 14:29

I received a different look at the tithe in this chapter, seeing more of God’s heart for us in it, to rejoice and bless others.

Lord, thank You for how You work in our work or lack of it, in our finances or need, as we give or as we receive help from others. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Satisfied

You bless us
as we bless others
storing up
in order to give
knowing You provide
the tithe and increase
and the every breath
we need to live.

Together

“I have taken the Levites instead of the first born of the children of Israel.” Numbers 8:18

I don’t know the theological reason why God did it this way, but my momma’s heart rejoices that families were kept together.

Thank You, Lord, for keeping my family together. And here’s a simple poem . . .

A Miracle Meld

So many damaged families
rent relationships, torn up lives

we have all the same ingredients
yet remain together

another Jesus miracle
in my life.

Carts, Oxen and Shoulders

“So Moses took the carts and the oxen and gave them to the Levites.” Numbers 7:6
“But to the sons of Kohath he gave none because theirs was the service of the holy things, which they carried on their shoulders.” Numbers 7:9

Some were asked to carry heavy articles that required oxen and carts. Others would simply use the shoulders God had given them.

Thank You, Lord, for supplying me with what I need to serve You today. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Our Supplier

I come
before You
with nothing
to serve.
You supply me
with new life,
able hands
and words.

How has God supplied you for service today?
