A Title

 

They placed a sign
above Your head

JESUS OF NAZARETH
KING OF THE JEWS

how blessed I am
to know You as

my Lord and Savior
Bringer of Good News.

You establish who You are.

“Now Pilate wrote a title and put it on the cross. And the writing was:
JESUS OF NAZARETH
KING OF THE JEWS.” John 19:19 NKJV

Rightly

 

For this reason
it is You came

to bear witness
of the truth

as rightly so
they called You King

and all who hear
follow You.

You establish a witness to the truth.

“Jesus answered, ‘You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I came into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.’ ” John 18:37 NKJV

Our Great King

“. . . ‘For I am a great King,’
says the LORD of hosts,
‘and My name is to be feared among the nations.'”  Malachi 1:14 NKJV

What a privilege it is to love and honor God.

Thank You, Lord, for giving us opportunities to glorify You today.  And here is a simple poem . . .

He is our great King
our LORD of hosts

Whose name is awesome
among the nations

and we offer Him
our very best

praise and worship in
each situation.

God bless you as you honor and serve Him today!

A Chosen King

“Yet I have set My King
On My holy hill of Zion.”  Psalm 2:6

God has already chosen a Ruler for us.

Lord, help us to carefully consider who and what we pledge allegiance to.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

My Choice

I have set My King upon the hill
Can you see Him there?

Enthroned upon a cross
thorns entwine His hair

Then high and lifted up
Risen from the tomb

This is your Holy King
The One for you I choose.

Our Chosen King

” . . .you shall surely set a king over you whom the Lord your God chooses, one from among your brethren you shall set as king over you. . .” Deuteronomy 17:15

God did not want just anyone ruling over His people.

Thank You, Father, for choosing the very best for us . . .Jesus Christ Your Son. And here’s a simple poem . . .

The Right Ruler

You chose for us a King
and lowly among us He came
though high and forever lifted
the whole earth praising His name.
He did not seek His own
personal growth and gain
but bore the word, the fear of God
a firm foundation, set and lain.

“Oh What God Has Done”

“The Lord his God is with him,
And the shout of a King is among them
God brings them out of Egypt . . .
It now must be said of Jacob
And of Israel, ‘Oh what God has done.'” Numbers 23:21-23

That there is the tiny nation of Israel today in the place God established it thousands of years ago, surrounded by countries who do not wish it to exist at all, makes me say indeed – look what God has done!

Father, we thank You for all You have done and are doing in and for Israel. We also thank You for what You have done bringing each of us out of our own personal Egypts . . .giving us new life with You. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Out of Egypt

Twenty-four years ago I passed
from Egypt’s grasp
into a place
filled with His grace.

Hard to believe so much has changed
and rearranged
inside of me
setting me free.

I stop and look – what You have done
through Christ Your Son
amazement sings
praise to my King!

This is one of those poems I’m not thrilled with. It is done in the Minute Form that I learned over at Jessie Carty’s poetry blog, but I just didn’t get it worked out very well before it was time to post it. I welcome your poems or any improvements to this one!
