“This is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But before the marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Soirit. Joseph, her fiancée, was a good man and did not want to disgrace her publicly, so he decided to break the engagement quietly.”

“As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. ‘Joseph, son of David,’ the angel said, ‘do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit. And she will have a son, and you are to name Him Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”

“All of this occurred to fulfill the Lord’s message through his prophet:

‘Look! The virgin will conceive a child!
She will give birth to a son,
and they will call Him Immannuel,
which means “God is with us’ “

Miracles

 

With child of
the Holy Spirit
before she was
even wed

Joseph thought
to put Mary off
but took her as wife
instead.

A laid down life witnesses miracles.

“Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.

Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly.

But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream , saying, ‘Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.

And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.’

So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying:

‘Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel, which is translated, ‘God with us.’

Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name JESUS.” Matthew 1:18-25 NKJV

God Will Surely Visit You

“And Joseph said to his brethren, ‘I am dying, but God will surely visit you, and bring  you out of this land to the land of which He swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.’ ” Genesis 50:24 NKJV

Joseph was so sure of God.

Thank You, Lord, for never forgetting where we are and where You want us to be.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

out the details

we need not worry
or fear.

God Almighty Appeared

“Then Jacob said to Joseph, ‘God Almighty appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan and blessed me, and said to me, “Behold I will make you fruitful and multiply you, and I will make you a multitude of people, and give this land to your descendants after you as an everlasting possession.” ‘ ”  Genesis 48:3-4

God still meets with us.

Thank You, Lord, for speaking into our lives.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

As You met
with Jacob

promising to multiply
and give the land

so You meet
with us each day

speaking Your word
Your covenant, Your plan.

Situated

“And Joseph situated his father and his brothers, and gave them a possession, in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.” Genesis 47:11 NKJV
“Then Joseph provided his father, his brothers, and all his father’s household with bread, according to the number in their families.”  Genesis 47:12  NKJV

Joseph knew just what to do for his father and brothers.

Thank You, Lord, for knowing just what to do for us. And here’s a simple poem . . .

You have situated
me and my family

providing for us
day and night

giving us twenty-four
hour access

to the best possible
love and light.

Down and Up

“I will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also surely bring you up again; and Joseph will put his hand on your eyes.”  Genesis 46:4

What a comforting promise.

Enough

“Then Israel said, ‘It is enough, Joseph my son is still alive. I will go and see him before I die.'”  Genesis 45:28 NKJV

There is another Son who is alive.

God’s Answer

“So Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, ‘It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace.’ ”  Genesis 41:15 NKJV

I’m not good at understanding the meaning of what I’m going through while I’m going through it.

Only You know
the measure of our days

and hear us
as we pray

only You can interpret
our lives and dreams

when nothing is
as it seems.

Remember Me

“But remember me when it is well with you, and please show kindness to me; make mention of me to Pharaoh, and get me out of this house.”  Genesis 40:14  NKJV
“Yet the chief butler did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.”  Genesis 40:23 NKJV

I fail others at times and forget them.

is a God

“Now Joseph had been taken down to Egypt.”  Genesis 39:1 NKJV
” Then Joseph’s master took him and put him in prison, a place where the king’s prisoners were confined. And he was there in prison.”  Genesis 39:20 NKJV

Joseph’s circumstances, by themselves, looked bleak.

at my circumstances
I might think
I’m outside Your will

but when I look
at You, O Lord
I see I’m
Your beloved still.
