Incorruptible

Our inheritance is incorruptible
undefiled

and does not fade
away

reserved for us
in heaven

by the power of God
who saves.

**********

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,”

“to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heave for you,”

“who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”

1 Peter 1:3,4,5. NKJV

Inheritance

I am your
inheritance

your possession of
highest worth

you need not worry
about tomorrow

just take Me at
My word.

You establish yourself as my inheritance.

“It shall be, in regard to their inheritance, that I am their inheritance. You shall give them no possession in Israel, for I am their possession.” Ezekiel 44:28 NKJV

Chosen For Us

“He will choose our inheritance for us,
The excellence of Jacob whom He loves.”  Psalms 47:4

My mom loves me and wants me to have her car someday.

Lord, thank You for choosing the best for us – Jesus. And here is a simple poem . . .

The Best

Our eyes get drawn to                                            images
the temporal things

fast cars, big houses
expensive rings

but God has chosen
our inheritance for us

the best and only
most excellent Jesus.

The Hope of the Promise

“And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made by God to our fathers.” Acts 26:6

Belief in Jesus births a hope in us that can be judged, but not taken away.

Thank You, Father, for the hope we have in Jesus, the Promised One. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Born For Hope

The hope of the promise
made by God to us
opens our eyes and turns us to
the light of Jesus Christ.

Out from the darkness
away from the enemy
we receive forgiveness
and an inheritance in Thee.

Included

“The inheritance of the children of Simeon was included in the portion of the children of Judah, for the portion of the children of Judah was too much for them.” Joshua 19:9

The inheritance that we have in Jesus is too much for us.

Please help us, Lord, to invite others to come into it too. And here’s a simple poem . . .

An Infinite Inheritance

All that You are to us
fulfills our every need

that there is more to come
is beyond our deepest dreams.

We must share this with others
for it is Yours to give

an inheritance for everyone
to run into Your arms and live.

A Given

“And the land was subdued before them.” Joshua 18:1
“But there remained among the children of Israel seven tribes which had not yet received their inheritance.” Joshua 18:2
“Then Joshua said to the children of Israel, ‘How long will you neglect to go and possess the land which the Lord God of your fathers has given you’?” Joshua 18:3

The children of Israel had been quite busy with the subduing of the land. Maybe it slipped their minds exactly what they were fighting for.

Lord, in the activity of daily life, may I not neglect to possess all You have already given me. And here’s a simple poem . . .

It’s Ours

He stands there
arms and hands out
giving love
peace and rest.

We need not huddle
and stay bereft
when He offers
the very best.

As He Said

“So Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘Surely the land where your foot has trodden shall be your inheritance and your children’s forever, because you have wholly followed the Lord my God’.” Joshua 14:9
“And now behold, the Lord has kept me alive, as He said, those forty-five years, ever since the Lord spoke this word to Moses while Israel wandered in the wilderness, and now, here I am this day, eighty-five years old.” Joshua 14:10

Caleb saw that God kept His word.

Thank You, Lord, for keeping us alive and fulfilling all Your promises. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Surely

If He spoke it
it is true
and it will come
to be.

Whether now
or then later
His word’s a certain
guarantee.

Refuge

“Now if the Lord your God enlarges your territory, as He swore to your fathers, and gives you the land which He promised to give to your fathers,
and if you keep all these commandments and do them, which I command you today, to love the Lord your God and to walk always in His ways, then you shall add three more cities for yourself besides these three,
lest innocent blood be shed in the midst of your land which the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, and thus bloodguiltiness be upon you.” Deuteronomy 19:8-10

These verses were dealing with the cities of refuge, where those who had accidentally killed someone could go. We see God’s desire to add even more such cities, so innocent blood might not be shed.

Oh Lord, may our hearts be turned toward the innocent, those who need protection and care. We do not forget the innocent blood You shed for us all, redeeming us from our guilt and shame, becoming our own City of Refuge. And here’s a simple poem . . .

An Inheritance

This land is special
at the center of His heart
prepared and given
set aside and apart
to not be like any other
where life is profaned
but the bearer of His promise
His love and His name.

Inheritance Keepers

“So the inheritance of the children of Israel shall not change hands from tribe to tribe, for everyone of the children of Israel shall keep the inheritance of the tribe of the fathers.” Numbers 36:7

Those leaving behind an inheritance must be concerned about it going into the right hands and being handled rightly.

Thank You, Father, for the inheritance we all receive through Jesus Christ Your Son. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Given By God

There’s an inheritance
I received from my Father

a place of peace and rest
when I believed

but I cannot give
it to another

each child must come
individually.

This is the last post from Numbers. Thank you so much for helping and supporting me through it all! Tomorrow we’re headed back to the New Testament for the Gospel According to Luke.

Boundaries

“Command the children of Israel and say to them, ‘When you come into the land of Canaan, this is the land that shall fall to you as an inheritance – the land of Canaan to its boundaries’.” Numbers 34:2

Neighbors thought we had an invisible fence for our dog. But, we didn’t. My husband trained her to know the boundaries of the yard and to stay within them.

Thank You, Lord, for Your invisible Holy Spirit fence that lets us know when we cross the line. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Staying Within

We slip
towards the edge
and eye-ball
the other side,
but Love
draws us back
where grace
and mercy thrive.
