Toward His Disciples

“Then He lifted up His eyes toward His disciples, and said;
Blessed are you poor . . .
Blessed are you who hunger now . . .
Blessed are you who weep now . . .
Blessed are you when men hate you  . . .”  Luke 6:20-22 NKJV

I forgot Jesus said these things to those closest to Him.

Thank You, Lord, for being our always hope ad assurance.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Blessed are you
My beloved

who seek
and follow Me

though hated
poor and weeping

My glory
you will see.

God bless you today , for yours is the Kingdom of God.

Where The Hungry Dwell

“He turns a wilderness into pools of
And dry land into watersprings,
There He makes the hungry dwell,
That they may establish a city for
And sow fields and plant vineyards,
That they may yield a fruitful
harvest.”  Psalm 107:35-37

The wilderness and desert are extreme habitats.

Lord, I desire to not flee the extreme places of my life, but trust You to make them into something of beauty and delight.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

He Inhabits

The wilderness is dangerous
the desert way too harsh

out of my element
I quickly ask to depart

but You delight and desire
to turn what’s hard into tools

that uncover well springs
and bring forth fruit beside pools.

A Heart In Season

“Now the next day, when they had come out from Bethany, He was hungry. And seeing from afar a fig tree having leaves, He went to see if perhaps He would find something on it.
He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs.” Mark 11:12-13

Sometimes the demands and expectations can leave me feeling exhausted, dried up . . .bereft of fruit.

When You come to me today, Lord, may You find what You are looking for. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Hungry To See

What are You looking for
when You come to me today,
knowing my circumstances
and constant disarray?
He says, “I’m hungry to see
a heart attitude that’s right,
that would be enough to fill
My Spirit with delight.”

RE: the RE

“Then Jesus called His disciples to Him and said, ‘. . .I do not want to send them away hungry, lest they faint along the way.'”  Matthew 15:32
“Then His disciples said to Him, ‘Where could we get enough bread in the wilderness to fill such a great multitude.'”  Matthew 15:33

It hadn’t been that long ago when the same scenario had taken place and Jesus had fed the five thousand.

Oh Lord, thank You for Your patience and understanding of my ability to forget and not fully grasp.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

What I Thought I Received

In my humanness
I too often forget
and need repetition
for lessons to stick.

In Your Holiness
You always repeat
what I need to relearn
when I stay at Your feet.
