Such A Thing As This

“Blessed be the LORD God of our fathers, who has put such a thing as this in the king’s heart, to beautify the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem,

and has extended mercy to me before the king and his counselors and before all the king’s mighty princes.”  Ezra 7:28

I’ve seen God do such a thing as this in my own life’s circumstances.

Lord, thank You for all that You put into the hearts of others, even unbelievers, in order to show us mercy.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Extended Mercy

Who but God
could do such a thing
putting into the heart
of a Persian king
to beautify the house
of the Lord our God
to show mercy upon
the lowly and down trod.

At The Mercy Place

“Now Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the LORD had appeared to his father David, at the place that David had prepared on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.”  2 Chronicles 3:1

I hadn’t thought about how the exact place for the house of the LORD was chosen . . .the place where He had shown mercy.  (2 Samuel 24:16)

Lord, we are humbled to be temples built upon Your mercy. And here is a simple poem . . .

At that place
where mercy and grace
met my sin
and Love lifted my chin
to look up
at the One who’d taken the cup
a new temple was begun
built by the Carpenter’s Son.
