Psalm 44 Selah

 

When the unexplainable
happens

and we don’t
understand

help us remember
how great is Your love

that we’re still in
Your hand.

I can pause when bad things happen and remember how much You love me, for You are with me.

“You have given us up like sheep intended for food and have scattered us among the nations.”

“You sell Your people for next to nothing, and are not enriched by selling them.”

“All this has come upon us; but we have not forgotten You, nor have we dealt falsely with Your covenant.”

“Arise for our help, and redeem us for Your mercies’ sake.”

Willing

 

I know You
will help me
do all You ask
me to

for You love me
and desire
my willing walk
with You.

You establish my willing obedience.

“So I spoke to the people in the morning, and at evening my wife died; and the next morning I did as I was commanded.” Ezekiel 24:18 NKJV

The One Who Saves

 

Your eyes shall not
search in vain
when they look
to Me

for I’m your Help
the One who saves
the Hope of your
glory.

You establish my salvation.

“Still our eyes failed us, watching vainly for our help; in our watching we watched for a nation that could not save us.”  Lamentations 4:17 NKJV

Defended

 

All other help
will crumble

so you learn to look
to Me

for I am your
Defender

who fights for you
endlessly.

Jesus establishes my help.

“Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, and rely on horses . . .but who do not look to the Holy One of Israel, nor seek the LORD! Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses are flesh, and not spirit. Both he who helps will fall, and he who is helped will fall down. So the LORD of hosts will come down to fight for Mount Zion and for its hill. Defending, He will also deliver it; passing over, He will preserve it.” Isaiah 31:1,3,4,5 NKJV

Best Help Ever

 

Happy are you
when you praise Me
when you hope
and trust in Me

for I keep truth
forever
and set
your heart free.

A laid down life has the BESt HELP EVER.

“Praise the LORD, O my soul! While I live I will praise the LORD.” Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them; who keeps truth forever, who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry. The LORD gives freedom to the prisoners.” Psalm 146:1,2,5,6,7 NKJV

Escape

 

When you are feeling
overwhelmed
and about to be
swallowed up

remember to call
upon My name
for nothing can
separate us.

A laid down life has a sure escape.

“If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, then they would have swallowed us alive, then the waters would have overwhelmed us. Blessed be the LORD. Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowler; the snare is broken, and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.” Psalm 124:1,3,4,6,7,8 NKJV

Your Shield

 

You cannot trust
in idols
they do not see
or hear

trust only in
your King of Glory
your true help
and shield.

A laid down life has a trustworthy help and shield.

“Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but to Your name give glory. Because of Your mercy, because of Your truth. Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands. Eyes they have, but they do not see; they have ears, but they do not hear. You who fear the LORD, trust in the LORD; He is their help and their shield.” Psalm 115:1,4,5,11. NKJV

My Help

 

praying everything
stays alive
until their return

Seeing a wilting cucumber plant from the kitchen window, we hurry outside to water it.

“You are my help and my deliverer; O Lord, do not delay. Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; and let those who love Your salvation say continually, “Let God be magnified”. “. Psalm 70:4,5

I am your help
and your deliverer
I will
not delay

to make glad
those who seek Me
who magnify
Me today.

In Our Prosperity

“Now in my prosperity I said,
‘I shall never be moved.’
LORD, by Your favor You have
made my mountain stand strong;
You hid Your face, and I was humbled.”  Psalms 30:6-7

I’m thinking of America as I read this.

My prayer, Lord, is “Hear, O LORD, and have mercy on me (us);
Lord be my (our) helper.”  Psalm 30:10   And here’s a simple poem . . .

Our Helper

a funny thing

causing us
to quickly forget

it is God’s hand
that prospers us

and helps us not
to make a god of it.
