Ripe

Blessed are those
who die in Me
resting from
their work

for the time is coming
when I will reap
a great harvest from
the earth.

Jesus establishes my work and rest.

“Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, ‘Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’ ‘Yes,’ says the Spirit, ‘that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them.’ And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud, ‘Thrust in Your sickle and reap, for the time has come for You to reap, for the harvest of the earth is ripe.’ ” Revelation 14:13,14 NKJV

Ripe

“Thrust in Your sickle and reap, for the time has come for You to reap, for the harvest of the earth is ripe.”  Revelation 14:15 NKJV

Some harvests require a sharp sickle.

Thank You, Lord, for knowing exactly how and when to reap.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

When the harvest
is ready
and the earth
is ripe

His sickle
shall thrust in-
a great reaping
for Christ.

God bless you as you labor with Him today.

God’s Economy

“When you reap your harvest in your field, and forget a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to get it; it shall be for the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.” Deuteronomy 24:19
“When you beat your olive trees, you shall not go over the boughs again; it shall be for the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow.” Deuteronomy 24:20

None of the above makes good business sense.

Oh Lord, please school me deep in the economy of You. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Leave It

Could I leave a sheaf
without going back

or forget a few olives
and be okay with that?

Oh may I trust You
to keep and cover me

whether I be blindly blessing
or gathering for free.

The Art of Gleaning

“When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not wholly reap the corners of your field nor shall you gather the gleanings of your harvest.
And you shall not glean your vineyard, nor shall you gather every grape of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the poor and the stranger: I am the Lord your God.” Leviticus 19:9-10

I don’t have fields or vineyards. Just a simple little blog.

Thank You Lord for the endless field of Your Word that You allow us to glean from. May I leave ample amounts of Your grace and love in the corners of these posts and among the rows of these words for others to come and find. And here’s a simple poem . . .

At The Edge

Standing always a little outside
the many fields of life
watching the labor, the love
the gathering in . . .
do they know what I glean
from the edges,
how much good they leave behind
for me?

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who allows me to glean from their blogs and lives! 🙂

His Harvest

“Then He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.  Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.'”  Matthew 9:37-38

It’s that time of year when we see farmers out in their fields with combines, gathering in the corn and soy beans.

Father, thank You for growing this excitement in me  over Your harvest.  Like the farmers who go into the fields that they own and have cared for all year, You, too, have a great and many people standing and waiting who already belong to You.  They simply need someone to help them take the next step further . . .into Your arms.  Here’s a simple poem . . .

Ready Fields

A single line of sunflowers
stands before the field of corn
heads bowed down and heavy
the season’s been hard sought.

The corn that’s been watched over
is now browning in its rows
with a combine in the corner
ready to harvest what’s been grown.
