Found Slain

“If anyone is found slain, lying in the field in the land which the Lord your God is giving you to possess, and it is not known who killed him . . .” Deuteronomy 21:1
“‘Provide atonement, O Lord, for Your people Israel, whom You have redeemed and do not lay innocent blood to the charge of Your people Israel.’ And atonement shall be provided on their behalf for the blood.” Deuteronomy 21:8
“So you shall put away the guilt of innocent blood from among you when you do what is right in the sight of the Lord.” Deuteronomy 21:9

God alone is the Judge of His people Israel, whom He has redeemed and made atonement for.

Known

A man is found dead
out lying in a field

no one knows what happened
or by whom he was killed

but Jesus has seen it
Jesus has heard

and Jesus has come
to take away the guilt of this world.

Over All

“But if he does make them void after he has heard them, then he shall bear her guilt.” Numbers 30:15

This chapter of Numbers covers laws about vows. It was a little more complicated for women. Their vows could be canceled or acknowledged by their fathers and/or husbands.

Oh Lord, please help us to submit to You and one another in love, returning us to our rightful places, on our faces at Your feet. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Non-Stick Guilt

There is nothing done
or not done
apart from You
and no guilt can stick
for failing to submit
to oppressive
human made
rules.
