Inside Israel – Emotional Rollercoaster of Sukkot

Hi! Welcome to a look inside Israel today. I goofed this weekend and accidentally posted an Inside Israel yesterday. oops. But, maybe that is as it should be, so we could finish up J of Jerusalem’s Sukkot sharings. This last one is so powerful. Praying that it stirs your heart for Him and His as well. God bless you as you read and pray. Now, here’s J . . .

I find myself wondering if you already KNOW what an emotional roller coaster this day has been for us here in Israel. I am assuming that most of you were able to watch the dramatic events that unfolded today as the world media covered it so very widely. The sampling of the foreign media coverage that I caught in between work and sukka guests, was compassionate, generally speaking, but it is hard to experience something like this ‘up close’ and not be softened to some extent, and world media was here in force! I am speaking, of course, about the release this morning of our soldier, Gilad Shalit, ending 5 years and four months of captivity in Gaza, apparently in solitary confinement.

As I wrote last, the events surrounding the release were controversial, dramatic and painful…but all of that took a ‘haf-seka’ today, that is…a ‘break’…everything ground to a halt and emotions other then …hum…what emotion is this HUGE ‘feeling’?? It is ‘love’, ‘heartbreak’, ‘joy’, ‘quiet compassion’, ‘pain’, ‘wonder’, ‘thanksgiving’…all rolled into one. Most people had their tv, computer or radio on by 6am this morning. Although it had been announced that the swap would begin at 11, we know our country and that didn’t mean anything. It turns out that they began shuttling prisoners down to the Egyptian boarder by midnight last night. By 6am we realized that ‘things were moving along quickly’ and every eye turned south. We heard at around 10:30 that Hamas had officially turned Gilad over to Egypt, and a short time later we heard that he was in Israeli hands…and 15 minutes later…back on Israeli soil! That meant only one thing; He was ALIVE! And that was the unspoken collective ‘breath holding’ hinge…would he be another cruel joke and be turned over to us in a box, as were the 3 captured by Hizbolla shortly after he was. But no…he really was ALIVE, and that was the word that went out everywhere: “Hoo HI!” (“He is ALIVE!”)

Someday those words will be spoken about Yeshua…Jesus. Someday there will be the same awestruck barely able to believe wonder spoken at the same moment by the whole country…”HE is ALIVE!”…but it wasn’t about Yeshua- not YET…Today it was about Gilad Shalit…every Israeli’s son today.

Do you need me to describe the events? I doubt it. I suspect that every one of you followed it to some extent or other. If I am mistaken, please ask me to send you information. You likely know that the Egyptian tv interview with him was ‘forced’ and had not been expected. You likely saw how he is so pale and thin and yet happy. We were all told to ‘keep back’ and to ‘leave the family alone’ but the streets were lined with flags and people threw flowers at his passing car. There was dancing in the streets.

At the same time…455 terrorists passed into Arab territory or a third country. They were greeted as heroes by huge crowds…many thousands…rejoicing and celebrating. In contrast to Gilad’s emaciated and pale body, they appeared very well fed and sun tanned. They proclaimed this as a great victory…and yet…on England’s BBC (of all places) an interview took place that took a surprising turn and startled even the interviewer. An Israeli woman, who had survived the Park Hotel Passover night bombing, but lost her entire family, was being interviewed. She was asked about ‘her emotions’ since the murderer of her family was being released. She looked very sad, traumatized, yet said that she was so happy for the Shalit family. The interviewer pushed further; ‘But the killer of your family is released. Aren’t you scared?’ she asked. ‘Ofcourse I am scared, we are all scared, but keeping him won’t bring my family back and now the Shalit’s won’t have to feel the pain that I live with.’ The interviewer was surprised ‘Well that is very generous of you but how can you back such a deal? It is not fair. Aren’t you angry at the government?’ She answered ‘Fair? Listen. One of our people IS worth 1000 of them and they know it and I know it and we have our son back. We honor life…they honor death. The government was brave.’ The interviewer was shaken.

And today this was echoed around the world. It is a philosophical argument. In this world where ‘life is cheap’, Israel paid a heavy price for one skinny boy. Our Prime Minister spoke briefly and quoted the prophet Isaiah 9:2 “The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined” I wondered if The Light to the nations was shining in hearts…if there was a ‘pause’ through out the world just as there was a ‘pause’ here. Would The Lord use this to speak to hearts in the middle of our chaotic world where right and wrong are turned upside down…could this all speak to hearts somehow for His kingdom?

And…did He answer our prayers and manifest Himself to Gilad Shalit during those 5 years and 4 months? He is a prayer answering God…but it remains our part, to simply pray.

I was at work through out the release and could only follow the events of the day on the computer edition of the printed media (we can not access video media at work) but I watched the patients. One called in to order prescriptions and gave me (literally) a ‘blow by blow’ account of what she was seeing and what was being said on tv. Another 80 year old woman came in rejoicing and telling me that it was ‘her day’ to ‘man’ the protest tent that Gilad’s parents had been living in near the Prime Minister’s office for the past year and a half, but instead she would be hosting a lunch party at her home for volunteers. ‘We call our children to protect us and they are willing to die doing it. In turn we promise them that there will not be ‘one left behind’, and today we restored their belief that we mean it. We have strengthened the hands of the army- our children- today.’ Said yet another.

So I went out into the sukka to read my Bible some more when I came home from work. Several couples from our fellowship came over to ‘sukka sit’ with us, and we took time to pray…sitting in a little tent covered with palm branches for a roof so that we can see the sky…can look up and think of Him Who watches over us and CALLS US to ‘WATCH AND PRAY’… in this little tent all decorated with fruit and flowers and the goodness of His abundance – some say it is like sitting inside a Christmas tree! – we worshiped Him in the middle of Jerusalem and wondered and paused and wondered again. And pray we did; for Gilad and his family – for victims of terror – for the terrorists (yes, we did) – for the government – for the body – for Lord to be glorified and for so much more. Kind of makes you wonder what tomorrow will hold! What a Sukkot!

It’s after midnight and I’m off to be. God bless you, dear dear brothers and sisters. Love, your sis in Jerusalem

Inside Israel – Sukkot part 2

Hello and welcome to a look inside Israel through the eyes of believer, J of Jerusalem. J has blessed us again, sharing as He leads her about what is happening around her. Thank you for coming and praying! Now, here’s J . . .

Sukkot, as I said, is my favorite holiday. OF COURSE…I have to qualify that by the fact that I love most of the others as well…and they are nearly ALL my ‘favorites’ at one time or another. Our sukka has been very busy this year as we have been BLESSED to have guests for almost every meal…and at three of those meals our table in the sukka was filled with old (and new) friends from Alaska (a different group each time)…SO encouraging and edifying! Such a gift to us! Last year I was able to attach photos of our sukka for you. If you are still vague as to what they look like, http://realjerusalemstreets.wordpress.com/ is a lovely site by an amateur photographer who documents Jerusalem in her photographs weekly. This week will be full of different types of sukkas…and you can also catch a view there of our ‘lite rail’…which is something that none of us could do today!!!

Yep! As our streets are FULL to overflowing with worshippers, and celebrating Israelis from all over the country and tourists from all over the world…our brand new rail drivers went on surprise strike! The resulting traffic nightmare was a real test of the character that The Lord planted in me as it took me over an hour to get home from the shuk (!) with many buses so full that they passed us by.

And speaking of ‘tourists’, that is one of the highlights of sukkot… the filling of Jerusalem with BELIEVERS, CHRISTIANS from all around the world, pouring in to celebrate the ‘Feast of Tabernacles’ at any one of a number of Christian ‘feast conferences’ going on during this time. The city is ‘relieved’ by His Light in them flooding our streets, and our loads ARE lightened and it is a great blessing! On my crowded bus I got to speak to two young Christians from Hong Kong…so sweet and their sweetness overflowed to me. As they got off, two BIG guys got on bedecked with black leather vests and black tee shirts stating; ‘DISCIPLES! JESUS IS LORD! Motorcyclists for Jesus…Norway’. They looked like wrestlers and I had to giggle watching everyone look at them in amazement. Oh Lord, BLESS those who come and those who couldn’t come but pray! Let this city be flooded with Your Light and testimony…and bring forth fruit to Your Glory!’

The Jerusalem March is usually the biggest and most encouraging event where the Christians are able to so encourage the country, but this year’s march will not be what it has been in years past…for it is taking place on Tuesday…and Tuesday is a day that will sum up the mixed emotions that are playing out all around us…for on Tuesday is the scheduled prisoner exchange for Gilad Shalit.

Approaching this subject is difficult for me as it is so charged with emotions larger then I feel that I have the ability to express, and those emotions are currently spread out, raw, over the country…pouring out into the streets and burying deeply into each heart. There is not one Israeli who is not happy that Gilad Shalit is coming home…and we are praying that it will not be in a box, (as were our last three, though we expected them to walk out of the waiting car at our Northern border).

I told you that the ‘ransom price’ being paid for Gilad is 1,027 prisoners, including some several hundred with ‘blood on their hands’. As the list of prisoners has been printed, details are coming out…and being relived. I guess that this is the anatomy of ‘trauma’ or ‘post traumatic stress’…and it is very real. Please see http://www.ynetnews.com/home/0,7340,L-3083,00.html to help understand some of the emotions.

Mine broke when I heard that the killers from the lynching in Ramala in 2,000, at the very beginning of the intifada, were being released. I had never seen anything like that…I had never seen such blood thirst. I had never seen a man pulled apart with bare hands, and pieces of him thrown out of a window while crowds cheered…I had never known what that felt like…and I relived that horror as I simply heard the announcement. And as the crimes were spoken of again…each one re-produced that ‘tightness’ in my chest and knot in my stomach. And I remembered the attack that I was at on Jaffa Road.

The first inkling of what the response was going to be came late last week when a 25 year old man went to the Rabin memorial in Tel Aviv and, with onlookers as witnesses, poured white paint on it, wrote ‘price tag’ and ‘free Yigal Amir’ (the assassin of Prime Minister Rabin who was responsible for the ‘Oslo ‘peace’ accords’). When he was taken into custody and asked why he did this he said ‘You are releasing those who murdered my parents’ … and it was obvious that his grief was being relived. He was released. They are reliving their grief…both the mourners and those who were injured…and those who were near…and those who watched on television…the entire nation is reliving the horrors of the murders committed. Please watch the 15 Oct 11 video interview with the woman responsible for the Sbarro Pizza attack that killed 15 mostly young people and children. http://thisongoingwar.blogspot.com/ She is being released.

So…I can not write about why the parade will not be well attended this year. Most people will be glued to their televisions waiting to see if Gilad Shalit is alive…and so many…too many…reliving horrors deeply engraved in their hearts as the families of the killers of children rejoice.

Yet they are not being released ‘just for one soldier’…they are being released for ALL of the soldiers…who count on the government…the country…to do whatever it takes that ‘not one left behind’- the motto of our armed services – will be reality. We count on our soldiers and they must trust us. What a price!

Please hold the nation in prayer at this time. It is terribly emotional. I am not ‘wise’ enough to give you prayer points, but The Holy Spirit IS. He might have you pray for the government to be able to withstand this painful process…or for the children who lost their parents and siblings,…or the parents who lost their children…or for Gilad Shalit’s mind and spirit, or for his family…or for the salvation of our nation…or any manner of way that The Holy Spirit, Who searches the hearts of men, can lead…for He KNOWS the needs far better then I do.

And in the midst…it is Sukkot…and HE COMMANDS US TO REJOICE…and I WILL for I know the end of the story!
God bless you DEAR sisters and brothers. I cherish you. You are HIS! May He be blessed and glorified in each of us.

Inside Israel – Sukkot in Jerusalem (part 1)

Hi! Welcome to another Sunday look inside Israel, thanks to J of Jerusalem, a Jewish believer. Today is part one, dated from October 12, of her heart stirring letters concerning this year’s Sukkot celebration. Thank you for joining us as we let J take it away . . .

SUKKOT – 12.11.2011
Sukkot…my favorite holiday…is ushered in this year by the dramatic announcement made last night by our Prime Minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, that a deal has been struck with Hamas for the release of our captive soldier, Gilad Shalit. The whole nation watched with such a mixture of emotions. He has been captive now for more then 5 years. There are to be more then 1,000 Palestinian security prisoners released for his ransom…including more then 200 serving life sentences with ‘blood on their hands’. The Prime Minister told us that the changes in the Middle East have resulted in a sudden serious concern for Gilad’s life and they were convinced that there would be no better deal in the future. Some of the issues that cloud the joy that would be expected with such an announcement reflect the complexity of the matter. There are thousands of bereaved families that will be having their loved one’s killers released (each of the major prisoners are responsible for hundreds of dead and many more maimed). There is concern for the Gilad who is to return home…after all that he has been through…who will this be and what lies ahead for him…IF he returns home alive at all. There is concern with the compromised position that Israel has put herself in in the eyes of the terrorists, who consider this a ‘win’ for themselves and a sign of weakness on our behalf.

But in the midst of this there in not only REASON to rejoice…a son is to return home…there is also COMMAND to rejoice!

DEUT 19:13-15 “You shall observe the Feast of Tabernacles (‘booths’, Sukkot) seven days, when you have gathered from your threshing floor and from your winepress. And you shall rejoice in your feast, you and your son and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant and the Levite, the stranger and the fatherless, and the widow who are within your gates. Seven days you shall keep a sacred feast to The Lord your God in the place which the Lord chooses, because the Lord your God will bless you and your produce and in all the work of your hands, so that you surely rejoice.”

LEVIT 23:40-43 “And you shall take for yourselves on the first day the fruit of beautiful trees, branches of date palm trees, the boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the brook; and you shall rejoice before the Lord your God for seven days. You shall keep it as a feast to the Lord for seven days in the year. It shall be a statute forever in your generations. You shall celebrate it in the seventh month. You shall dwell in booths for seven days. All who are native Israelites shall dwell in booths that your generations may know that I made the children of Israel dwell in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt. I AM THE LORD YOUR GOD.”

Sidewalks, yards, rooftops and balconies are all clothed with a wide assortment of sukkas. They come in all shapes and sizes, and bring with them an inherent sense of joy. Somehow, just looking at them makes me want to smile. Some are like little wooden play houses made of wood with palm branch roofs standing on the side walk.

As I walk by I can hear people setting up house inside. Others, like ours, are more tent like with cloth walls. Our clothes line becomes the ‘foundation’ for our palm branch roof. One year I invested in several yards of material printed with symbols of Sukkot to brighten our sukka. It makes up the back side with several bright table cloths serving for 3 other sides. Under the palm branches (from the clothes line) I have hung fresh dates and pomegranates, grapes, flowers and fragrant leaves, as well as some ‘fruit like’ decorations that we have acquired over the years. Many people put up Christmas lights and all sorts of Christmas like decorations. We have a woven rug for a floor, a table and as many chairs as we can fit in because the sukka is open to all who would like to come in and sit and rejoice with us. It is open to friend and stranger alike and is such a good time to get to know people. I have pinned the scriptures above to the ‘walls’ in English and Hebrew and it does sometimes inspire stirring conversation.

The sukka… this ‘vulnerable’ little dwelling with a ‘roof’ through which you can see the stars and the moon… a commandment to rejoice before The Lord… a time set apart to sit under His ‘hugeness’ and consider our ‘smallness’ and to remember that in HIM…we “live and move and have our being”…WHAT A HOLIDAY!

And, OF COURSE, it rained a slight bit this morning. And OF COURSE the temperature dropped a great deal today. To me these are such ‘symbols’ of His BLESSING after the long hot dry summer.

Our dinner was served as a Thanksgiving feast, and we spent many hours together outside rejoicing.

The kitchen is clean and I will go to bed, but I hope to write to you several times during Sukkot…and share with you heartbeats of this most precious holiday.

I do humbly thank you for your comments over this past ‘emotional roller coaster’ of a week. I am so thankful for His body! Lovingly, your sis.

Inside Israel – IFI notes

Hi and welcome to a look inside Israel! Today I’m posting the Intercessors for Israel’s prayer notes. We’re giving J the day off. 😉 Thank you for your prayers for J and for Israel too! God bless you!

· Thank You for being the same yesterday, today and forever (Malachi 3:6; Hebrews 13:8).
· We love being able to depend on, and trust in, Your faithfulness (Lamentations 3:22-23).
· What a privilege to be alive in these days and see You restoring Israel (Psalm 147:2).
2. The ultimate goal of God’s Kingdom, the ultimate goal of our salvation, is His glory. One of the ways He accomplishes that in the end-times is through all Israel being saved.
· Great God of mercy and grace, reveal Yourself to Your people.
I have loved you with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn you.
Jeremiah 31:3
· Thank You for all those whom You have saved recently. Guide them to the fellowship of Your choice and help them be built up in the faith.
· Save Israelis who are in the security forces. As they are willing to lay down their lives to protect/save this people, open their eyes to see that You have already done just that.
· Lord, Israeli teenagers are being inducted into the IDF this summer. Use any Messianic Jewish youth who are in their units to provoke them to jealousy (Romans 11:13-14).
· Abba, save multitudes of Holocaust survivors, terror victims, and widows and orphans.
· God of Israel, reveal Your Son to Israeli politicians, especially Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his family.
· Abba, many Orthodox Jews know about You, but they do not know You. By Your Spirit, unlock their hearts to see Your Son.
Yeshua said… I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes unto the Father, but by Me.
John 14:6
· Lord, bring into Your Kingdom unsaved loved ones of Messianic believers (Acts 16:31).
· Turn us again, O God, and cause Your face to shine; and we shall be saved… Turn us again, O God of hosts, and cause Your face to shine; and we shall be saved… Turn us again, O LORD God of hosts, cause Your face to shine; and we shall be saved.
Psalms 80:3,7,19
3. While we bless God for the many Jews who are entering Yeshua’s kingdom in exile, the Word is clear that “all Israel gets saved” in the land of Israel (Ezekiel 36:23-28; Zechariah 12:2-10, etc). So we prayed for aliyah – the return of Jews from exile back to their land.
· Thank You Lord for all of the Jews who are coming home this summer.
· Help those who have come home to get settled, never to be uprooted again (Amos 9:18).
· We bless You that the numbers of Jews returning have been steadily increasing for the past several years. Increase the numbers exponentially this year. Since this is all for Your glory, we ask You to do this with hearts full of faith that You will hear and answer us.
· Thus says the Lord GOD; When I have gathered the house of Israel from the people among whom they are scattered, and shall be sanctified in them in the sight of the nations, then shall they dwell in their land that I have given to My servant Jacob.
Ezekiel 28:25
· Fear not: for I am with you. I will bring your seed from the east, and gather you from the west. I will say to the north, Give up; to the south, Keep not back. Bring My sons from far, and My daughters from the ends of the earth; Even every one that is called by My name: for I have created him for My glory…
Isaiah 43:5-7a
· Abba, we ask specifically for You to draw home Jews living in New York, in Florida and in California, and all other places in North America.
· Touch the hearts of Israelis living outside this land, that this is the year to return.
· Bless all of the programs that bring young Jews to tour and learn about the land. Marry many of these youth to this place (Isaiah 62:4-5).
· Use the current global economic shakings to shake Jews out of the nations.
· Bring home Jews who have been financially successful so that they can contribute to the strengthening of Israel’s economy (Isaiah 60:9).
· There are still multitudes of Jews in the former Soviet Union. Please help them to return.
· We also ask that the remaining Ethiopian Jews, and all Jews in nations being ruled over by Islam, would be released to come home.
· Speak to all Messianic Jews in exile that Israel really is their home. Help them prepare, so that in Your timing they are ready to make aliyah (Isaiah 35:10; 51:11).
4. Israel’s security situation is precarious. Israel could be attacked by a missile barrage or find herself in a full blown war almost any day. And rockets from Gaza, as well as terror attacks, occur with sickening regularity. We need to lift up in constant intercession those in Israel charged with her safety.
· We bless You for Israel’s security forces and the outstanding job they do in providing protection to this nation.
· We see them as a fulfillment of Your prophetic word which says that when Israel comes back home, You make her a mighty army (Isaiah 41:10-16; Ezekiel 37:10; Micah 4:11-13; Zechariah 12:2-9).
· Quicken all of Israel’s soldiers, police, etc. to any danger, and protect them.
· Do not allow for there to be any further successful kidnapping attempts.
· Set Gilad Shalit free supernaturally.
· We bless IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz in the name of Yeshua, the Lord of Hosts.
· Enable there to be clear communication between Gantz, Defense Minister Ehud Barak and PM Netanyahu at all times.
· Provide for all of Israel’s intelligence agencies all the intelligence they need to know the true situation surrounding this nation.
· Give Israel’s leaders wisdom on how to deal with the current threats coming from Gaza’s Hamas, Lebanon’s Hizbullah, Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood, Syria and Iran.
· As You have done both in biblical and in modern times, turn Israel’s foes on each other.
· Thank You for enabling Israel to be at the forefront of developing new weapons – both offensive and defensive.
· Enable Israel’s homegrown military industry to not be hindered in anyway from being able to grow and develop whatever Israel needs to defend herself.
· Thank You that ultimately, whether You do it through the IDF or sovereignly, You are the One who protects this nation (Psalm 121:4; Jeremiah 31:10).
5. The only “peace” plan the world understands is to divide this land which God has sworn to give to the children of Israel over 40x in His Word, and then to expect an Israel sitting on an indefensible piece of property to live in “peace and security”! What foolishness! And to those of us who see through the lens of scripture, what arrogance to think that man can cut up God’s land at will. We prayed for Israel’s God and Israel’s leaders to defeat this global attempt at trying to prove the Bible is not the Word of the living God.
· Lord, bring the counsel of the nations to nothing. Make the thoughts of man to have no effect. Lord, watch over Your counsel forever. Make the thoughts of Your heart to stand throughout eternity (Psalm 33:11-12 paraphrased).
· Abba, bring all of the anti-Israel plans at the UN to nothing.
· Deal with the Palestinian plans to have the UN unilaterally recognize a “Palestine” this coming September.
Rejoice not… Palestine… I will kill your root with famine, and he shall slay your remnant. Howl, O gate; cry, O city; you, Palestine, are dissolved…
Isaiah 14:29-31
· Enable Israel’s UN Ambassador Ron Prosner, to have great wisdom and courage to defend Israel’s status before a mostly anti-Zionist organization.
· Thank You that the recent Middle East Quartet [US, EU, UN, Russia] meeting could not agree on a statement about furthering the Israeli-Arab “peace” process.
· Do not allow US President Obama’s push for Israel to negotiate “peace” by returning to the 1967 armistice line get any traction among Israelis.
· Lord, do not allow Your land to be divided, but deal with the nations who are attempting to do this.
For, behold, in those days… when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for My people and for My heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and divided My land.
Joel 3:1-2
We also prayed for PM Netanyahu and all the challenges he is facing – both internally and externally – as the leader of Israel. We asked for God’s protection over him and his family, physically, emotionally and mentally, and for their salvation.
We ended our time praying for the salvation of multitudes of Moslems at this time of upheaval in the Middle East. We asked that in the midst of this God-ordained shaking, the foundations of Islam would come down. Ramadan, the Islamic holy month, is observed this year from around August 1 to August 29. We asked God to give many Moslems dreams and visions of Yeshua during this time, and that ex-Moslems believers would have a deep revelation and love in their hearts for Israel. Our God is able to do all of this and so much more.
Ah Lord GOD! Behold, You have made
the heaven and the earth by Your great power…
there is nothing too hard for You.
Jeremiah 32:17
“Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh.
Is there any thing too hard for Me?”
Jeremiah 32:27
Please keep Eliyahu and Hannah Ben-Haim in prayer as they minister in the Far East for the next week or so. Thank you.
Shabbat shalom,
The IFI Team
Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above
all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,
unto Him be glory in the congregation by Messiah Yeshua throughout all ages,
world without end. Amen.
Ephesians 3:20-21

Inside Israel – Intercessors For Israel

Hi everyone! Thank you for coming by today, as the days draw closer to the celebration of Christ’s birth. J of Jerusalem wasn’t able to e-mail this week, but she had sent this early, for those who would like to know specifically how and what to pray for Israel. God bless you always!

International Prayer Conference
Jerusalem, January 24th – 31st, 2011

If I forget you, o Jerusalem, let my right hand forget its skill! If I do not remember you, let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth – if I do not exalt Jerusalem above my chief joy.
Ps. 137:5-6

Friday Prayer Points
10 December 2010

1.

We read Zephaniah 3:14-17 to start our time together.
*

Sing, daughter of Zion. Shout, Israel. Be glad and rejoice with all the heart, daughter of Jerusalem. LORD [YHWH] has taken away your judgments. He has cast out your enemy. The king of Israel – LORD – is in the midst of you. You shall not see evil any more. In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear not, and to Zion, Let not your hands be slack. LORD your God in the midst of you is mighty. He will save, He will rejoice over you with joy. He will rest in His love. He will joy over you with singing.

*

What a precious promise. We bless You as we begin to see the initial fulfillment of this coming to pass in our day.
*

God, we are amazed at the fact that You are both mighty and tender.
*

Blessed be the name of our God and King.
*

We thank You that You have told us that You look forward to all prayers lifted up to You in the name of Your Son Yeshua (Prov. 15:8b, 29b).
2.

We next prayed about Israel’s water crisis.
*

Abba, we thank You for the rainfall last week.

You God, sent plentiful rain, whereby You did confirm Your inheritance, when it was weary.
Psalms 68:9

*

We bless You that the forecast for this weekend is for stormy weather over Israel – including snowfall on Mount Hermon.
*

Lord, we have seen in the past that forecasts have not come to fulfillment because of sudden changes in the weather patterns. We plead with You to not let that happen now.
*

Lord, You are the one who fed the 5,000 and the 4,000 with miraculous increase. Please do the same with whatever water Israel has or receives.
*

We thank You for Israel being at the forefront of desalinization technology, but we confess that we are trusting in You and not man, to provide Israel’s water needs (Jer. 17:7-8).
*

Please give to Israelis – both leaders and others – wisdom on how to use the water that You provide.

For LORD gives wisdom…knowledge and understanding.
Prov. 2:6

3.

It has been reported that Israel is attempting to reconcile with Turkey over the Gaza flotilla incident in late May that left 9 Turkish terrorists dead. Turkey is insisting on both an apology and compensation for the families. This would be so wrong for Israel to do – morally and politically – as well as be a very dangerous move in this rough neighborhood in which Israel has to live.
*

Lord, since all Israel was doing was protecting herself, do not allow this apology to be issued.
*

Harden the hearts of the Turkish leaders so that whatever Israel’s government presents them will not be enough.
*

A man’s heart plans his way: but LORD directs his steps.
Proverbs 16:9

*

Raise up such strong opposition to this in the cabinet, that Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu cannot go forward with this even if he wants to.
*

Thank You that Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman has taken a strong stance against this.
*

Abba, prevent Israel from putting her trust in Turkey (Isa. 30:1-3; 31:1).
*

Allow truth to reign.

Judgment is turned away, and justice stands far off, for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter. Truth fails, and he that departs from evil makes himself a prey. LORD saw it, and it displeased Him that there was no justice.
Isaiah 59:14-15

*

Protect Israel’s leadership from any demonic manipulation in this situation.
4.

We turned our attention to Israel’s current government and PM Netanyahu. Everywhere they turn, they are faced with a crisis situation: water, security, the “peace process”, preparedness for war, Iran and Islam’s continual threats, the delegitimizing of this nation’s right to exist, etc.
*

Lord Yeshua, King of Israel, You see the tremendous pressure that Israel’s current leaders are facing. We lift them up to You. Strengthen, encourage and give them wisdom.
*

Grace them with Your power to be all You want them to be at this time in history.
*

We know that Netanyahu has “come to the kingdom for such a time as this.” (Est. 4:14b) Therefore, give him all the authority, wisdom, courage and strength he needs to do that which is pleasing in Your sight.
*

We do thank You for Bibi and ask for his spiritual eyes to be opened to His Messiah.
*

Hedge in the government so that they can only make decisions that are in line with Your will.
*

Open their eyes to see truth from error.
*

May You not have to proclaim this over them:

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!…Who justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!
Isaiah 5:20,23

*

Make this government one which follows Your holy standards for a godly government.

For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Will you then not be afraid of the power? Do good, and you shall have praise of the same. For he is the minister of God to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid, for he bears not the sword in vain. For he is the minister of God, an avenger to execute wrath upon him that does evil.
Romans 13:3-4

5.

Gaza and it’s Hamas overlords, are becoming a more dangerous threat as the missiles and mortars that are fired from there increase. There is now talk of Israel needing to go back in and deal with Hamas.
*

Abba, comfort and heal the Israeli who was seriously injured by another attack from Gaza yesterday.
*

Enable this to be a wake up call to both government and people that we just cannot allow the situation in Gaza to fester like we are doing now.
*

We bless You for Your continued divine protect over this land (Jer. 31:10).
*

Give the IDF wisdom and a plan on how to deal with Hamas.

Jericho was tightly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in. LORD said unto Joshua, “I have given into your hand Jericho, the king, and the mighty men of valor.”
Josh. 6:1-2

*

Direct Israel to a cautious but aggressive response to these attacks and even allow her to pre-empt further attacks.
*

Use the IDF to terrorize the terrorists (Rom. 13:3-4).
*

Protect all the IDF patrols along the Gaza border. Give them discernment.
*

Prevent any successful kidnapping attempts of IDF soldiers.
*

Give to the IDF’s new Chief of Staff, Yoav Galant, the spirit of a warrior and a love for Israel.
*

Set Gilad Shalit free physically – and save him.

The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me; because LORD has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the meek. He has sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, the opening of the prison to them that are bound.
Isaiah 61:1

6.

Last week’s fire on Mt. Carmel showed this nation, and her enemies, Israel’s weakness in dealing with major fires on the home front. This is a strategic danger that must be dealt with quickly and with much wisdom.
*

Lord, thank You for this wake-up call.
*

Stir up the government to do something about this – now.
*

Instead of playing the blame-game, bring Israel’s leaders into unity to deal with this.
*

Confuse any plans of the enemy to take advantage of this.

Let them all be confounded and turned back that hate Zion.
Psa. 129:5

*

Hizbullah in Lebanon has amassed a huge missile arsenal. Give the IDF Your plan on how to deal with them and destroy their weapons (Isa. 54:17).
7.

Iran talked with the five UN Security Council nations plus Germany this past week. And that is all they did – talk. They plan to meet to talk some more next month. And this is seen as a positive step in the prevention of Iran developing a nuclear weapon. What more proof do we need to see that most of the world is deceived because of turning away from God and His solutions.
*

…because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved…God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie…
2 Thess. 2:10b-11

*

Abba, we have asked You to arise and scatter Your enemies (Psa. 68:1). And it seems that You are doing just that.
*

We thank You for the continuing shaking of Iran – economically, physically and spiritually.
*

Continue to divide their leadership.

Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues: for I have seen violence and strife in the city.
Psa. 55:9

*

If You are going to use Israel to strike at Iran (Jer. 51:20), then give her leaders wisdom concerning Your timing and method.
*

Protect us from the reaction in the aftermath of an Israeli attack.
*

Thank You that WikiLeaks exposed what the Arab leaders really think about Iran – their fear and hatred of her – and their desire that either America or Israel to take care of her.
*

We bless You for saving multitudes of Iranians and we bless them out of Zion (Psa. 134:3).
*

Anoint them to know how to intercede for their nation at this crucial time.
*

Expose all of Iran’s schemes and demonic plans.
*

Protect Israeli spies or informants.
*

Place in their hands accurate information to pass on to Israel.

Genesis 45 is part of this Shabbat’s Torah portion. This is where Joseph tells all his Egyptian servants to leave the room, and then reveals himself to his brothers. This is a type of Yeshua revealing Himself to His Jewish brothers in the last days. We used this to pray for Israel’s salvation.

Thank you for continuing to maintain your place on Jerusalem’s walls.

Shabbat shalom from Zion,

But the end of all things is at hand:
be therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
