Arise

Let me arise
seeking Your presence

and not simply
to flee

listening
to what You say

for it is life
to me.

**********

I can arise each day and seek You, for You are with me.

“Now the word of the LORD came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, ‘Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before Me.’ “

“But Jonah arose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.”

Jonah 1:1,2,3 NKJV

Flee As A Bird?

“In the LORD I put my trust;
How can you say to my soul,
‘Flee as a bird to your mountain’
?”  Psalm 11:1

Where else can I go, but to Jesus?

Lord, each time I’m tempted to flee, let me run straight to You.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Say What?

source – bioclaire13.blogspot.com

How can you say to my soul
‘flee as a bird to your mountain’
when you know I can only
run to God?

How can you tell me to give up
as though I’ve been defeated
when my victory has been wrought
upon His cross?

(Aubrey picked out the bird image for us . ..
a Secretary bird from Africa. 🙂  )

Flee

“Now when you arrive at that place, look there for Jehu, the son of Jehoshaphat, the son of Nimshi, and go in and make him rise up from among his associates, and take him to an inner room.”  2 Kings 9:2

“Then take the flask of oil, and pour it on his head, and say, ‘Thus says the Lord, “I have anointed you king over Israel.”‘  Then open the door and flee, and do not delay.”  2 Kings 9:3

If I over think before hand, I may never move and go.  If I over think afterward, I won’t be available for what’s next.

Oh Lord, help me not to stay stuck on my own thoughts, or the thoughts of others, but flee quickly back to You.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Surely

He has spoken
I have heard Him
and what I do next
will tell

if I move quickly
and don’t over think it
surely all
will be well.

Kept Back From Honor

” Now therefore flee to your place. I said I would greatly honor you, but in fact, the Lord has kept you back from honor.” Numbers 24:11

Balak was so upset in the above verse, when Balaam couldn’t curse Israel. Balaam could only speak the words the Lord put in his mouth.

Oh Lord, please keep me back from honor today if it would in anyway dishonor You. And here’s a simple poem . . .

To Honor You

Oh let me fill my days
with all the ways
there are to
honor You –
to pray and praise
Your wonderful name
giving glory to
all You do.
