The Walking Way

“Blessed is every one who fears the
Who walks in His ways.”  Psalm 128:1

The girls and I would take a challenging trail through a local park that led us up and down a ravine, crisscrossing the creek at the bottom on strategically placed stones.

Lord, thank You  for being the Way for us to walk in.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

The Way Home

We’ve learned Your ways
are not our ways

Your thoughts
are not our own

yet You lead us
and guide us

all the way

His Arrows

“Behold children are a heritage from
the LORD,
The fruit of the womb is His reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a
So are the children of one’s youth.”  Psalm 127:3-4

Not every child is seen as a reward by their parents.

Lord, please help us understand our heritage as Your much loved children.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Within His Quiver

Kept as arrows
close by His side

within His quiver
we abide

until sent out
when the time is right

to pierce the darkness
with His light.

Great Things

“When the LORD brought back the
the captivity of Zion,
we were like those who dream.
Then our mouth was filled with
And our tongue with singing.
Then they said among the nations
The LORD has done great things for them.
The LORD has done great things for us,
Where of , we are glad.”   Psalm 126:1-3

Jesus came to set the captives free.

Lord, bring back our captivity that the nations may proclaim You have done great things for us.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

We who were captives
now released by the King

can’t help but laugh
and from our mouth’s sing.

Once led away to where
we weren’t meant to be

now our gladness testifies
“Look what He’s done for me.”

“Our soul has escaped as a bird from
the snare of the fowlers;
The snare is broken, and we have escaped”  Psalm 124:7

We watched a red tailed hawk soaring into the sky the other day.

Lord, thank You for setting us free from the snare, so we can fly.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

To Fly

The hawk started
down low

then climbed up high
into the sky.

She wondered why
it would do this

I thought, it was
meant to fly.

(Hi dear friends!  I will be away from the computer quite a bit
the next 10 days, and haven’t yet decided how to deal with it.
🙂   So, if I don’t get to your blogs or to my own, you’ll know why!
Wishing you a beautiful Easter!)

The Peace Of Jerusalem

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem;
‘I will now say, “Peace be within
Because of the house of God
I will seek your good.”  Psalm 122:6,8,9

A  president visited Jerusalem in the middle of her Passover preparations, causing businesses and public transportation to be closed down.

Lord, teach us how to seek the good of Jerusalem and each other.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Seeking Good

Western Wall in

Western Wall in Jerusalem

I am for you
I am with you
and I will seek
your good.

Peace, peace
I will give you
coming as I
said I would.

Our Keeper

“He who keeps you will not slumber.”  Psalm 121:3

I have dreams sometimes, where I need to be awake, but am so tired I can’t get up.

Lord, thank You for never sleeping – for always keeping us –  by day and by night.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Your Work

When I feel weary
and powerless to help

when I’ve done all
I know to do

You lift my eyes
and remind me

this is Your work
and You’re not through.

The Lying Way

“Remove from me the way of lying
and grant me Your law graciously.”  Psalm 119:29

A witness in court is asked, “Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help you God?”

Lord, let me not lie to cover up my flaws, but stay vulnerable and transparent for You. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Remove from me
the way of lying

when I don’t realize
that I am

for You see deep
inside of me

and separate truth
from the sham.

All Set

“I called on the LORD in distress;
The LORD answered me and set me
in a broad place.”  Psalm 118:5

Circumstances can close in on us.

Lord, please help me to remember I am always in a broad generous place because of You.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Eyes Wide Open

Feeling hemmed in
by my situation
distressed enough
so I just can’t see
until You open my eyes
to the wide place
You have
set me.

“I love the Lord because He has heard
My voice and my supplications.
Because He has inclined His ear to me,
Therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live.”   Psalm 116:1-2

We cherish people who not only hear our words, but hear the heart behind the words.

Thank You,  Lord, for the healing that comes just from You being close enough to hear me.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Leaning Near

Oh how beautiful
are His ears

which listen

to my voice
and my prayers

leaning ever near
to me.

What We Trust

“Their idols are silver and gold,
The work of men’s hands.
They have mouths, but they do not speak,
Eyes they have, but they do not see;
They have ears, but they do not hear;    Psalm 115:4-6

Those who make them are like them,
So is everyone who trusts in them.”
Psalm 115:8

Only through Jesus can I really see, hear and speak.

Lord, please strip away those things I trust in more than You.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Who Loves You

So much at
our fingertips

to depend on
to trust

but none of it
can love or care

like the Lord
of us.
