Dream Giver

I will give you
dreams and visions

of what is yet
to be

so you can now
prepare yourself

and continually look
to Me.

**********

The One who gave Joseph his dreams is with me.

**********

“Now Joseph had a dream and he told it to his brothers; and they hated him even more.”

“Then he dreamed still another dream and told it to his brothers, and said, ‘Look, I have dreamed another dream. And this time the sun, the moon, and the eleven stars bowed down to me.”

Genesis 37:5,9. NKJV

God’s Answer

220px-Rumunia_5806

“So Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, ‘It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace.’ ”  Genesis 41:15 NKJV

I’m not good at understanding the meaning of what I’m going through while I’m going through it.

Thank You, Lord, for interpreting our lives and dreams according to Your plans and promises.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Only You know
the measure of our days

and hear us
as we pray

only You can interpret
our lives and dreams

when nothing is
as it seems.

God bless you as He gives you knowledge and understanding today.

When Their Reality Is Our Dream

“So David made abundant preparations before his death.

Then he called for his son Solomon, and charged him to build a house for the LORD God of Israel.

And David said to Solomon, “My Son, as for me, it was in my mind to build a house to the name of the LORD my God. . .”  1 Chronicles 22:5-7

David really wanted to build the house for the LORD.

Lord, when others get to do what we’ve always dreamed of, help us not to turn and walk away, but stay and support them.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Even Though

So many emotions
come into play

when things don’t go
just our way

please help us remember
we’re on the same team

to still pour into others
when their life is our dream.

What Lies Ahead

Part of my past, before I knew Jesus, included suicide attempts.  Not once, but twice.

Thank You, Jesus, for knowing what lay ahead of me – YOU! – and bringing it to pass.  I love You, Lord!

Here’s a simple poem to encourage us about what God has established  and is going to do!

Dreams Do Come True

Two dreams, one of
fat cows and lean ones
one of full heads and
ravaged ones, with
the latter devouring
the former. Twice given,
twice received, established
confirmed . . .got it? Good.
Now watch . . .

“And the dream was repeated to Pharaoh twice because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.”  Genesis 41:32

Gifted

I tried encouraging my husband by saying he had special God-given gifts and talents.  He has not yet come to Jesus and couldn’t see it that way.  To him, only someone like a highly skilled surgeon had a gift from God.

Jesus, thank You for being God’s gift to us and for giving us each different abilities to be gifts to others in Your name.

Here’s our simple encouraging poem today, reminding us where our gifts come from!

Wide Awake

The dreamer is sold away
for dreaming dreams
no one wants
to come true, placed
in a position to reveal
the meaning of dreams,
never drifts off
from the fact God
is not asleep on the job.

“But I have heard it said of you that you can understand a dream, to interpret it.”  “So Joseph answered Pharaoh saying, ‘It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace.'” Genesis 41:15-16

Some Dreams Die Hard

I read an article about Thomas Edison trying 10,000 times to get a storage battery dream worked out right.  Aren’t we all glad his dreams didn’t just die?

Jesus, how grateful we are that satan’s plans to kill off Your dreams to save us failed miserably.  You are very much alive and so are we, in You.

Here’s a simple poem to encourage us to trust Him with our dreams.

The Dreamer Is Coming

The theory formed
as Joseph came,
destroy the dreamer
and his visions will end.
But through the voice
of reason, Joseph,
– and his dreams –
stay alive.

“Come now therefore, let us now kill him and cast him into some pit . . .We shall see what shall become of his dreams.”  Genesis 37:20

Voicing Dreams

As Aubrey’s mom and caregiver, her dreams morph into mine.  Recently, two of her dreams are coming true.  All it took was for me to voice them to others, risking possible rejection and getting laughed at.  It has definitely been worth the risk!

Jesus, thank You for facing rejection, mocking and a cross as You voiced Your Father’s dreams for us.

Here’s a simple poem to help us dream big!

My (Bad) Would-Be Advice

Joseph, lay low.  You
already have your father’s
ear and that fancy
coat . . .and ten crazy
jealous brothers.
Joseph, keep your dreams
to yourself. Play it safe,
and never be instrumental in
saving the children
of Israel.

“Now Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it to his brothers and they hated him even more.”  Genesis 37:5

In Your Dreams

I’ve heard of God speaking to people through dreams.  . .also through times when they can’t dream! ( thinking of you, Gladwell!) I wonder if He waits for us to be quiet and still to hear Him?

Jesus, thank You for always finding a way and a time to speak to us!  Help us to hear You today.

Here’s a simple poem to encourage us as we listen for Jesus!

Going With God

Jacob had to leave
due to the anger of his brother,
but also out of obedience
to his father and his mother.
And on the way to Laban
the Lord blessed him in a dream,
saying He would be with him and keep him,
multiplying beyond all earthly means.

“Beloved I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land.”  Genesis 28:15
