Abide In My Word

As we abide
in His word

His disciples we
will be

and we will know
the truth

and the truth will set
us free.

You establish Your word and truth for me to abide in.

“Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, ‘If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.’ “. John 8:31,32 NKJV

There Is A Holy Spirit

source - Wikipedia

source – Wikipedia

“And it happened, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus. And finding some disciples
he said to them, ‘Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?’ And they said to him, ‘We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.’ ”  Acts 19:1-2 NKJV

There are other ‘spirits’ , but only one Holy Spirit.

Thank You, Lord , for Your Holy Spirit. And here is a simple poem . . .

There is
a Holy Spirit

who always
testifies

to the
glory of God

and His Son
Jesus Christ.

God bless you with His Holy Spirit!

Through His Grace

“Now therefore, why do you test God by putting a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?”  Acts 15:10 NKJV
“But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved in the same manner as they.”  Acts 15:11 NKJV

Only Jesus saves.

Thank You, Lord, for Your saving grace.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

No more burdens
must we bear

from heavy yokes
we are spared

for now we trust
and have faith

that only by Jesus
are we saved.

God bless you and save you today!

Gather Up The Fragments

“So when they were filled, He said to His disciples , ‘Gather up the fragments that remain, so that nothing is lost.’ “. John 6:12.  NKJV

Fragments count

Thank You, Lord, for helping us gather up our broken pieces.  And here’s a simple poem. . .

Gather up
the pieces

and bring them
to Me

for nothing is lost
or wasted

just trust Me
and see.

God bless all that you bring to Him today!

Toward His Disciples

“Then He lifted up His eyes toward His disciples, and said;
Blessed are you poor . . .
Blessed are you who hunger now . . .
Blessed are you who weep now . . .
Blessed are you when men hate you  . . .”  Luke 6:20-22 NKJV

I forgot Jesus said these things to those closest to Him.

Thank You, Lord, for being our always hope ad assurance.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Blessed are you
My beloved

who seek
and follow Me

though hated
poor and weeping

My glory
you will see.

God bless you today , for yours is the Kingdom of God.

Before You

“And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him.  Behold, I have told you.”  Matthew 28:7

Jesus didn’t tell them to go some place He wasn’t going to be.

Thank You, Lord, for going before us today.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

I will go
before you

and will make
a way

for you
to follow Me

and do
as I say.

God bless you as He goes before you today!

Pour It On

“And when Jesus was in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper,
a woman came to Him having an alabaster flask of very costly fragrant oil, and she poured it on His head as He sat at the table.
But when His disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, ‘To what purpose is this waste?'”  Matthew 26:6-8

For some reason, I thought it was the scribes and Pharisees who were indignant. . .not His own disciples.

Thank You, Lord, for this woman and all those who pour out extravagant costly love upon You.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

What good is
what I treasure

if I keep it
apart from You?

Let me pour out
my heart, my love

all my hands hold
unto You.

God bless you as you pour out your love on Him today!

Does This Offend You?

“”Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this said, ‘This is a hard saying; who can understand it’?” John 6:60
“When Jesus knew in Himself that His disciples murmured about this, He said to them, ‘Does this offend you’?” John 6:61

How can I be offended by the One who died for all my offenses?

Lord, when You speak a harder truth that I don’t understand, I desire to stay humbled before You until I do. And here’s a simple poem . . .

A Hard Saying

Eat My flesh
and drink My blood
and you shall abide
in Me.

Your fathers ate manna
and are dead –
eat this Bread
and live.

(from John 6:56, 58)

Why They Slept

“When He rose up from prayer, and had come to His disciples, He found them sleeping from sorrow. Then He said to them, ‘ Why do you sleep? Rise and pray lest you enter into temptation’.” Luke 22:45-46

The disciples often get bad mouthed for falling asleep at a time like this. Reading “sleeping from sorrow” puts it in a different light.

Thank You, Lord, for not coming just to tell us what we’re doing wrong, but to show us a better way. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Compassion Even When

Weary with grief, pulled
down into emotionally
drained sleep, You don’t
condemn our condition,
but teach us to
pray against temptation,
knowing all that
still awaits.

Erupting Praise

“Then, as He was now drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen,
saying,
‘Blessed is the King who comes in
the name of the Lord.
Peace in heaven and glory in the
highest’.” Luke 19:37-38

Something about this passage makes me envision those disciples like a volcano that had to erupt.

Oh Lord, let our praises and joy pour forth now and forevermore. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Be The Praise

For all that You have done
and are about to do
let nothing, no nothing
stop us from rejoicing in You

and being the praise
that continuously sings
glory in the highest
to our blessed King of kings.
