Man of Sorrows

 

Don’t hide your face
from Me
and from what I’ve
gone through

I know it’s hard
to look upon
My being crucified
for you

and as horrific as
that time was
and heart
crushing too

still far worse for Me
would it be
to have an eternity
without you.

My forgiveness is forever established by You.

“He is despised and rejected by men, a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him.” Isaiah 53:3 NKJV

How Can He Save Us?

“And Saul also went home to Gibeah; and valiant men went with him, whose hearts God had touched.” 1 Samuel 10:26
“But some rebels said, ‘How can this man save us?’ So they despised him and brought him no presents. But he held his peace.” 1 Samuel 10:27

This reminds me of another King who was despised.

Oh Lord, we pray to hold our peace among those who despise, that they might see with their own eyes all that You can do. And here’s a simple poem . . .

What A Savior Does

They despised the Man
that hung upon the cross

“He can’t even save Himself
how can He save us?”

And Jesus held His peace
in that crushing place

because that’s what the Savior does
He rescues us by grace.
