A Banner

“You have given a banner to those who fear You,
That it may be displayed because of the truth,
That Your beloved may be delivered,
Save with Your right hand, and hear me.”  Psalms 60:4-5

God sets the truth in us and over us.

Lord, may Your truth be plainly displayed in us.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Flying Free

You make us
into banners

and fly us
for all to see

filled with
Your truth and love

“Jesus set us free!”

Father, May I?

Have You not delivered my feet
from falling,
That I may walk before God
In the light of the living?”  Psalms 56:13

Whenever I just about fall, it sure gets my attention back on where I’m walking.

Thank You, Lord, for delivering me so I can walk before You now.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

I wasn’t delivered
to keep stumbling

I wasn’t saved
so I could just fall

for I’ve been given
a clear testimony

to freely walk out
before God and all.

Out Of Trouble

“I will freely sacrifice to You;
I will praise Your name, O LORD, fo
r it is good.
For He has delivered me out of all trouble . . .”  Psalms 54:6-7

A line from the movies comes to mind . . .”Are you looking for trouble?”

Lord, we desire to seek You and Your ways as You deliver us from trouble.  And here is a simple poem . . .

Troubles come
and troubles go

and we don’t want
to see them grow

so we stay close
to You and pray

giving You  our thoughts
our lives, our ways.

Delighted In

“He also brought me out into a broad place;
He delivered me because He delighted in me.”  Psalm 18:19

God doesn’t deliver us because He feels He has to, or should, but because He wants to.

Lord, thank You for taking delight in us. May we delight in You as well! And here’s a simple poem . . .

I delight in you
in the dead of night
during your darkest day
I’m loving you, always.

I delight in you
when everything’s alright
in the midst of praise
I’m loving you, always.

A Little Help Please

“And Jepthat said to them, ‘My people and I were in a great struggle with the people of Ammon; and when I called you, you did not deliver me out of their hands’.” Judges 12:2
“So when I saw that you would not deliver me, I took my life in my hands and crossed over against the people of Ammon; and the Lord delivered them into my hand.” Judges 12:3

There are going to be times in our lives when no one can, or will, help us.

Lord, I thank You for all the wonderful people You put in my life that help me daily. I also thank You for the depth of Your love and faithfulness that sees me through the things I have to do on my own. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Ever Present Help

When waiting for human help
and help doesn’t come

the temptation rises to blame
and shame everyone

but going ahead and stepping out
to do what needs done

we find all the help we need
in Father, Spirit, and Holy Son.

Delivered to Drive Out

“Who shall be first to go up for us against the Canaanites to fight against them?” Judges 1:1
“And the Lord said, ‘Judah shall go up. Indeed I have delivered the land into his hand’.” Judges 1:2
“And it came to pass, when Israel was strong, that they put the Canaanites under tribute, but did not completely drive them out.” Judges 1:28

The land was delivered, but the people in the land would need convincing.

Lord, I desire to drive out everything in my life that You have already delivered me from. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Of Deliverance

All You desire
for us is good

and You know
our human frailties

leading us not
into temptation’s hands

but out of sin’s

Hey wonderful readers! Thank you for joining me and teaching me through your comments! I forgot to mention yesterday that it was my last post from Acts and we’ve moved back to the Old Testament, The Book of Judges. God bless you and your journey with Him!

Delivered From Expectations

“And when Peter had come to himself, he said, ‘Now I know for certain that the Lord has sent His angel, and has delivered me from the hand of Herod and from all the expectation of the Jewish people’.” Acts 12:11

We all live under a lot of “expectations”. I once asked God what HE expected of me. His reply . . .a right heart attitude.

Lord, please help us separate other expectations from Your desires. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Expecting Jesus

Unreal expectations
bring disappointment

stretching relationships
snapping them into

until we come expecting
of the One who is annointed

who never fails to tell us
the right thing to do.

Prisoners of War

“When the King of Arad, the Canaanite, who dwells in the South, heard that Israel was coming on the road to Atharim, then he fought against Israel and took some of them prisoners.” Numbers 21:1
“So Israel made a vow to the Lord, and said, ‘If You will indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities’.” Numbers 21:2
“And the Lord listened to the voice of Israel and delivered up the Canaanites . . .” Numbers 21:3

To this day, Israeli soldiers are targeted to be taken as prisoners. Their enemies know how valuable their sons and daughters are and so use them to barter with and make demands.

Thank You Lord, for coming to set the captives free. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Freedom Fighters

Can I be okay
while there are those imprisoned
by politics and poverty
addictions and fears?
Teach me how to
reach out with You, Lord
to let them know
freedom is here.
