In The Cross

 

Let it be in Your cross
that I glory

into Your sacrifice
I lean

crucified to
the things of this world

let it be to You
I cling.

By Faith

 

I am not justified
by works

but by my faith
in Christ

for with Him I’ve
been crucified

so in me
He’s alive.

I can live by faith for You are with me.

The Mind Of Christ

 

For we have
the Spirit of God

and the mind
of Christ

to know the things
we’ve been freely given

to know Him and Him
crucified.

Making A Way

I was mocked
scourged

beaten and
crucified

dying yet
rising again

making a way
for you new life.

You establish victory over death.

“And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed His last. Then the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.” Mark 15:37,38. NKJV

Rejoice

 

Rejoice
for I have risen

I’m no longer
in the tomb

crucified
for your sins

now I’m alive
in each of you.

You establish my reason to rejoice.

“And as they went to tell His disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, ‘Rejoice!’ And they came and held Him by the feet and worshiped Him. Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:9,20 NKJV

Man of Sorrows

 

Don’t hide your face
from Me
and from what I’ve
gone through

I know it’s hard
to look upon
My being crucified
for you

and as horrific as
that time was
and heart
crushing too

still far worse for Me
would it be
to have an eternity
without you.

My forgiveness is forever established by You.

“He is despised and rejected by men, a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him.” Isaiah 53:3 NKJV

Save Yourself

“Then two robbers were crucified with Him, one on the right and another on the left.

And those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads

and saying, ‘You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save Yourself!  If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross.’ ”  Matthew 27:38-40 NKJV

The temptation was great for Jesus to save Himself . .. and for us to save ourselves too.

Thank You, Lord, for dying and rising again according to God’s will and plan.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

“Save yourself”
temptation prods
“take heed
and don’t delay.”

But One calls me
to die to self
and live with Him
this day.

Let Jesus Speak

“For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect.” 1 Corinthians 1:17

It’s okay when I can’t find the right words to say. Jesus said it all on the cross.

Oh Lord, we pray for the wisdom and the power of You crucified to be known more than our words. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Christ’s Cross Effect

There is a power and wisdom
only He can possess

though we try to describe it
our words fall short at best

the message of the cross
of Christ crucified

does what we cannot do
leaving Him alone glorified.

King Jesus

“Now Pilate wrote a title and put it on the cross. And the writing was:

JESUS OF NAZARETH
THE KING OF THE JEWS (John 19:19)

Then many of the Jews read this title, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and it was written in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin. (John 19:20)

Then the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, “Do not write, ‘The King of the Jews’ but, ‘He said, “I am the King of the Jews”.'” (John 19:21)

Despite the objections, the title remained.

Thank You, Lord, for establishing Your Kingdom, even when we don’t know just how much we need You as our King. And here’s a simple poem . . .

His Kingdom Come

You say rightly
that I am King
and it is for
this very thing
that I have come
into the world
to establish My Kingdom
and let Truth rule.

Coming To Life

“He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee,
saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.
And they remembered His words.” Luke 24:6-8

His words came to life for them. The Word came to life for us.

Thank You, Lord, for being the living Word that breathes in us each and every day. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Risen Words

He spoke volumes
in the time
He spent with them,
filling up the pages
of their empty hearts.
So when the time
was right
and a nudge was given,
their souls fell open
to the life He had wrought.
