Inside The Cup

“Blind Pharisees, first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also.”  Matthew 23:26

One of the first things Jesus addressed in me was my thought life.

Thank You, Lord, for caring more about what is going on inside of me than how I look to others.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

How I look
on the inside

my thoughts
and my beliefs

matters more
than the outside

so come change
and cleanse me please.

God bless you inside and out!

Tender Cleansing Mercies

“Have mercy upon me, O God,
According to Your lovingkindness;
According to the multitude of Your
tender mercies . . .”  Psalms 51:1

“Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean
Wash me , and I shall
be whiter than snow.”  Psalms 51:7

I’ve tried to save stained clothing, soaking it in bleach too long and seeing it fall apart when lifted out.

Lord, thank You for Your mercy that desires to save us and cleanse us without destroying us.  And here is a simple poem . . .

His Mercy                                                                         images

Lord , I love Your mercies
that are new each day
and how You chose to cleanse us
instead of throwing us away.

Zealous One

“Phineas . . .has turned back My wrath, from the children of Israel, because he was zealous with My zeal among them, so that I did not consume the children of Israel in My zeal.” Numbers 25:11

For some reason, the word “zeal” scares me a little. But maybe the lack of zeal is what should really scare me.

Thank You, O God, for sending us Your zealous Son to be pierced for our sins, turning back the outcome of a life apart from You. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Turning Back

Zealous for His Father
Jesus never once
compromised holiness
compassionately cleansing
the plague
of our flesh.

Whoever Touches

“And whoever touches anything made unclean . . .shall be unclean until evening, and shall not eat the holy offerings unless he washes his body with water.” Leviticus 22:4,6

This section of Leviticus, concerned with what the priest touched, has me considering what I allow to touch me.

Lord Jesus, please help me make the right decisions on what I allow to touch my eyes, ears, mind and heart. Please purify and cleanse me today. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Sensitive to the touch
it doesn’t take much
to affect and bruise us
making dark spots, thus
we reach for Jesus.
