Unbroken

Come and let Me
write again

the commandments
I have spoken

for I am
longsuffering

and My word remains
unbroken.

**********

The One who is longsuffering is with me.

**********

“And the LORD said to Moses, ‘Cut two tablets of stone like the first ones, and I will write on these tablets the words that were on the first tablets which you broke.”

“And the LORD passed before him and proclaimed, ‘The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth . . .’ “

Exodus 34:1,6 NKJV

Dead Wood

Pride
never profits

never comes
to any good

though tall
as a tree

it topples like
dead wood.

Only You establish strength.

“. . . it’s branches have fallen on the mountains and in all the valleys; its boughs lie broken by all the rivers of the land; and all the peoples of the earth have gone from under its shadow and left it.” Ezekiel 31:12 NKJV

Broken

Even if I
must break you

in order for you
to see

I will do
whatever it takes

for you to return
to Me.

You establish my need of You.

“Then you will break the flask in the sight of the men who go with you, and say to them, ‘Thus says the LORD of hosts: “Even so I will break this people and this city, as one breaks a potter’s vessel . . .” ‘ “. Jeremiah 19:10,11 NKJV

“How Can I Endure?”

“For how can I endure to see the evil that will come to my people?  Or how can I endure to see the destruction of my kindred?”  Esther 8:6

May my heart be as broken as Esther’s for my people.

Lord, let me not grow apathetic to the evil and destruction around me.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Asking

eo.wikipedia.org
Dosiero Mourning Angel

How could we endure
the loss of our loved ones

or of this nation
coming more and more undone

but for the hope of mercy
we cry out and ask You

by the power of Your Spirit
may many more yet come.

Divided and Broken

“Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, ‘Take this and divide it among yourselves. . .'” Luke 22:17
“And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me’.” Luke 22:19

This has me thinking of when He divided the loaves and fishes to feed the 5,000. Now He is preparing to feed the whole world.

Oh Lord, please let me be willing to be poured out and broken for You as You were for me. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Together

Go and prepare
a place for Me
where we can gather
intimately
for I’ll be divided
poured into each cup
broken, passed ’round
Bread filling you up.

With God

“For with God nothing will be impossible.” Luke 1:37

The headlights of my car shone on a sign saying something very similar to this verse, at a time when I was hurting so badly, broken and barely hanging on. It became a turning point in my life.

Lord Jesus, thank You for the possibility that only You can bring to what is broken, hurting and lost. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Mission Possible

He makes
the impossible possible

we can be healed
renewed, remade

when all seems lost
and irreversible

Jesus comes
and is the way.

P.S. I looked for that sign on subsequent trips down that road, but never saw it again.

Nothing Wasted

” . . .a woman came to Him having an alabaster flask of very costly fragrant oil, and she poured it on His head as He sat at the table.”  Matthew 26:7
“But when His disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, ‘To what purpose is this waste?'”  Matthew 26:8
” . . .He said to them, ‘Why do you bother this woman?  For she has done a good work for Me.'”  Matthew 26:10

Nothing that we truly do for Jesus is wasted.

Oh Lord, we long to be extravagant in our love and worship of You today, allowing ourselves to be poured out on whoever You desire.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Poured Out For Him

We’re all fragrant oil
in  alabaster flasks
waiting to be poured out
whenever Jesus asks,
so valuable to Him
here upon this earth
for when we give of ourselves
others see His worth.
