I Believe

“Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when He had found him, He said to him, ‘Do you believe in the Son of God?’ ”
“He answered and said, ‘Who is He, Lord, that I may believe in Him?’ ”
“And Jesus said to him, ‘You have both seen Him and it is He who is talking with you.’ ”
“Then he said, ‘Lord, I believe!’ And he worshiped Him.”  John 9:35-38 NKJV

Worshiping Him naturally follows believing Him.

Thank You, Lord, for opening my eyes to You.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Only One
could open

my eyes
that didn’t see

blind from birth
now I worship You

reborn
now I believe.

God bless you as you believe and worship Him today!

The Book of Life

“And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life.”  Revelation 20:12

A friend shared that her sister-in-law’s dying wish was for her family and friends to hear the gospel.  As they gathered around her and she passed away, the pastor was called back to talk to them and everyone there believed.

Thank You, Lord, for continuing to add to Your Book of Life.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

The pen is ready
the ink well filled

to write down the names
of those who will

ask for forgiveness
and believe in Christ

finding themselves
in His story of Life.

God bless you as you live out the Life He gave you!

Longsuffering

“However for that reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life.” 1 Timothy 1:16

Here are a few definitions of long suffering:

*quality of self-restraint in the face of provocation
*does not hastily retaliate or promptly punish
*opposite of anger
*does not surrender to circumstances or succomb under pressure
*endures lasting offense or hardship.

Lord, thank You for what You are doing in us despite of ourselves. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Enduring

source – christcenteredmall.com

Ever patient, loving kind
You aren’t quick to punish
full of mercy, You always work
on what is within us
for our good and the good
of others all around us
You use everything to show
just how much You’re for us.

A Convenient Time

“Now as he [Paul] reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and answered, ‘Go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for you’.” Acts 24:25

There will never be a more convenient time than right now to believe Jesus.

Lord, please help those who hear of You today make a decision to follow You and not wait a minute longer. And here’s a simple poem . . .

How About Now?

Now is
the right time

this moment
is the best

to welcome Jesus
into our hearts

to accept His love
and rest.

Supposing

“(For they had previously seen Trophimus the Ephesian with him in the city, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple.)” Acts 21:29
“And all the city was disturbed; and the people ran together, seized Paul and dragged him out of the temple; and immediately the doors were shut.” Acts 21:30

How often do I suppose things about others that simply aren’t true?

Thank You, Lord, for always being true and Someone we can believe. We desire, with Your help, to suppose something good about each other today.
And here’s a simple poem . . .

Supposing Something Good

Suppose someone thinks I’ve done a wrong
that I didn’t do
how much time and energy do I spend
to convince them it’s not true?

So to keep from more distractions
I will suppose only good things
trusting and believing first and foremost
in the glory of my King.

Seeing Beyond

“When He was still speaking, someone came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, ‘Your daughter is dead. Do not trouble the teacher’.” Luke 8:49
“But when Jesus heard it, He answered him, saying, ‘Do not be afraid, only believe, and she will be made well’.” Luke 8:50

Jesus doesn’t hear, see or respond like everyone else.

Lord, please give me eyes to see beyond what my mind thinks it knows. And here’s a simple poem . . .

According To Him

I’m handed her diagnosis
and my heart begins to sink

so I turn to Jesus
to see what He thinks

He answers that she is surely
healed in Him

but others all around her
need His healing within.

Sharing Those Things Believed

“In as much as many have taken in hand to set in order a narrative of those things which are most surely believed among us,
just as those who from the beginning were eye witnesses and ministers of the word delivered them to us,
it seemed good to me also . . .” Luke 1:1-2

This is how The Gospel According to Luke starts out. Even though many had already recorded the story of Jesus, it didn’t stop him from doing it too. I’m so glad.

Thank You so much, Jesus, for all the people who continue to share “those things which are believed among us.” And here is a simple poem . . .

Let Me Hear Yet Again

Can I ever hear
enough about You
can I ever read
all there is to read?
Do I ever tire
of finding the light switch?
oh no, Lord
this could never be!

I want to let everyone know about a new online Christian Journal, http://idyllsfortheking.wordpress.com.
Eden Ellis is the editor and seeking fiction/poetry/song lyrics/photos that glorify and honor God. The idea is for it to be like this verse, a place to continue telling those things which are believed among us. I hope you are encouraged in Christ while reading there and contribute to the telling too! 🙂

Inheritance Keepers

“So the inheritance of the children of Israel shall not change hands from tribe to tribe, for everyone of the children of Israel shall keep the inheritance of the tribe of the fathers.” Numbers 36:7

Those leaving behind an inheritance must be concerned about it going into the right hands and being handled rightly.

Thank You, Father, for the inheritance we all receive through Jesus Christ Your Son. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Given By God

There’s an inheritance
I received from my Father

a place of peace and rest
when I believed

but I cannot give
it to another

each child must come
individually.

This is the last post from Numbers. Thank you so much for helping and supporting me through it all! Tomorrow we’re headed back to the New Testament for the Gospel According to Luke.

Only Believe

“Do not be afraid; only believe.” Mark 3:36

Jesus always knows best. For truly, life was at it’s scariest when I didn’t believe.

Thank You, Lord, for helping me minimize my fears by maximizing You in my life. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Fear Less

Fear tries to creep in
telling me to give in
after all it’s logical
to be afraid.

Fear says I’m faking
at being brave, making
a false smile
be my charade.

But You are inside me
and soon You remind me
You are all
that I need.

So I can believe
and simply receive
Your power to make
my fears flee.
