“But the dove found no resting place for the sole of her foot, and she returned into the ark to him, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth. So he put out his hand and took her, and drew her into the ark to himself.” Genesis 8:9 NKJV

There is no place to rest our souls outside of Him.

Thank You, Lord, for reaching out Your hands and drawing us into Yourself.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

We must go off
and leave the nest

try our wings
find out what’s best

but the only place
we’ll find true rest

is in His hand
drawn to His chest.

God bless you as He puts out His hand and draws you in today.

Standing in the Midst

“So the priests who bore the ark stood in the midst of the Jordan until everything was finished that the Lord had commanded Joshua to speak to the people, according to all that Moses had commanded Joshua; and the people hastened and crossed over.” Joshua 4:10
“Then it came to pass, when all the people had completely crossed over, that the ark of the Lord and the priests crossed over in the presence of the people.” Joshua 4:11

Once again God made the impossible possible for the children of Israel, as they crossed over the flooded Jordan on dry ground.

Thank You, Lord, for making a way for us to stand and walk through the flood of our situations that seek to knock us off our feet and keep us from You. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Through the Flood

Over the banks
dark waters rise
but You want us on
the other side
so You make a way
for us to cross
and no one drowns
no one’s lost.

Anytime

“And the Lord said to Moses, ‘Tell Aaron your brother not to come at simply anytime into the Holy Place inside the veil, before the mercy seat which is on the ark, lest he die, for I will appear in the cloud above the mercy seat.'”
“Thus Aaron shall come into the Holy Place: with the blood. . .” Leviticus 16:2-3

Even with the closest of friends and family, the offer to “stop by anytime” needs to be considered carefully.

Lord, how blessed we are that You have provided the blood needed for us to be forever in the Holy Place of Your heart. And here’s a simple poem . . .

24/7

No matter when
no matter where
Jesus has promised
He will be there.

How blessed we are
that He made a way
for us to be with Him
every hour of the day.

His Mercy Seat

“And there I will meet with you, and I will speak with you from above the mercy seat, from between the cherubim which are on the ark of the testimony. . .”  Exodus 25:22

God instructs for an ark to be made to carry the Testimony.  And a mercy seat to be above the ark.  How telling. God knew from the beginning what we would need above all else . . .mercy.

O Lord, thank You for Your mercy that constantly covers me and holds me to do likewise. Here’s a simple poem . . .

What Mercy’s Made Of

Mercy can’t be
made of anything
too revealing

like my white shirt
that shows exactly what
I’ve done all day

nor anything too hard
like those chair legs
I kick while barefoot

maybe something soft
to sink into, but strong
like memory foam

and able to make dirt
disappear like a
Mr. Clean magic eraser.
