His Prevailing Purpose

I know that You can do everything,
And that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You.”  Job 42:2

Last week I was thinking about how God can do anything and now here we are at knowing God can do everything.  🙂

Lord, thank You for doing everything to show us that You love us and want to be with us forever. And here’s a simple poem . . .

No Withholding

There is only One
who can do everything

only One whose purpose
will prevail

only One worthy
of our worship

only One from whom nothing
will be withheld.

Everything is Mine

“Everything under heaven is Mine.”  Job 41:11

A wonderful friend loans me her books.  Because they are hers, I am extra careful with them.

Lord, may we treat each other and the world around us with loving care today, because it’s all Yours.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

All His

There is a certain
root of pride
that grows each time
I think of  “mine”
but it fades
and falls away
as I thank You for
everything today.

Justified

source – focusonlinecommunities.com

“Would you indeed annul My judgement?
Would you condemn Me that you may be justified?”  Job 40:8

Justify is defined as:
1.  to show to be just, right, etc.
2.  to free from blame or guilt
3.  to supply good grounds for

Lord, I could not be justified apart from what You did for me on the cross.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

The Justifier

What lengths would I go to
to feel justified
that my life and actions were right
in my own eyes
when only You can truly
take away my shame
standing me in good stead
by the glory of Your name.

Will You Trust Him?

Highland Oxen

“Will the wild ox be willing to serve you?
Will you trust him because his strength is great?
Or will you leave your labor to him?
Will you trust him to bring home your grain,
And gather it to your threshing floor?”  Job 39:9,11-12

Even tame oxen are a force to be reckoned with.

Lord, please forgive us for trusting in any other form of power or strength than You.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Trusting True

We admire strength and power
and desire it too
whatever form it comes in
seems will do

but only You ascribe true power
only when we’re weak are we strong
so may all our trust be
in the Lord of the Song.

Can You?

“Can you lift up your voice to the clouds,
That an abundance of water may cover you?
Can you send out lightnings, that they may go,
And say to you, ‘Here we are!’ ?”  Job 38:34-35

As God questions Job, I feel myself shrinking.

Lord, thank You for keeping us humble, in a place where we can see all You can do.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

What I Can Do

I can’t order the heavens
or command the seas

nor satisfy the lions
no, none of these

but You can do all things
and all things wonderfully

and I can praise You
and worship eternally.

Awesome Majesty

“He comes from the north as golden splendor;
With God is awesome majesty.
. . .He is excellent in power,

In judgement and abundant justice;
He does not oppress.
Therefore men fear Him . . .”   Job 37:22-24

A majestic Holy just God IS a fearsome thing!

Oh Lord, help us remember not to fear those who judge us , are unjust and oppress . .. because we have You.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Fearsome

Before His splendor
we fall down
and His majesty
reflects and surrounds
as He judges us plainly
justice in His hands
the same palms that were pierced
out of His love for man.

Who Teaches Like Him?

“Behold, God is exalted by His power;
Who teaches like Him?”  Job 36:22

No matter what kind of a learner we are, God hand tailors lessons for each of us.

Lord, thank You for teaching me. Please help me remain teachable for all my life.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

My Daughter, My Teacher

We can become so set
on creating goals
and should do’s

source – shorpy.comon creating goals

that we lose sight
of what God teaches
through you.

Talking The Talk

“Surely God will not listen to empty talk,
Nor will the Almighty regard it.”  Job 35:13

If there is empty talk, there must also be full talk.

Lord, may my talk be full of You and all that pleases You.  And here’s a simple poem . .

Pass It On
So many words
that I can chose
ones that are empty
or full of You.

Empty talk is
a waste of time
but full talk passes on
something Divine.

His Spirit and His Breath

“If He should set His heart on it,
If He should gather to Himself His Spirit and His breath,
All flesh would perish together,
And man would return to dust.”  Job 34:14-15

We “are” only because He “is”.

Thank You, Lord, for sending out Your Spirit and Your breath – Your Son – so we would not perish, but have life.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

He Set His Heart On It

You breathe life
into us
and by Your Spirit
we move
everything we see
around us
is here
because of You.

The Pits

“He will redeem his soul from going down to the Pit,
And his life shall see the light.”  Job
33:28

Pits are much easier to get into than out of.

Thank You, Jesus, for rescuing and redeeming me from where I had fallen, so I can stand within Your glorious light.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Search and Rescue

I dug my own pit
and jumped right in

where it was so dark
I couldn’t see Him

but oh that Jesus
He came after me

pulling me from the depths
into His Life eternally.
