What Do You Think?

“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy – meditate on these things.”  Philippians 4:8 NKJV

While people see our action, they don’t always know our thoughts . . .but God does.

Lord, thank You for transforming our thought life into a place that glorifies You.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Thought Traffic

Thoughts keep coming
faster than I want them to
I need a traffic sign
to tell them what to do
a Holy Spirit policeman
to turn the bad around
and only let the good ones
travel on through town.

Not Tedious

“Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. For me to write the same things to you is not tedious, but for you it is safe.”  Philippians 3:1

My daughter and I have the same conversations over and over again.  There is a safety in her knowing how I will respond.

Oh Lord, let us rejoice in You over and over again today, finding it is not tedious to do so, but safe.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Rejoice in the Lord
again and again

lift His name
sing praises to Him

be ready for Jesus
to lift you, too

safe in His arms
bringing worship anew.

A Lovely Lowliness

Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.”  Philippians 2:3

We often hear about low or high self esteem.

Thank You, Jesus, for giving us a totally different take on this – “other” esteem, that leaves ourselves out of it.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

The Other Esteem

Thinking of myself too much
only causes pain

either I become self-righteous
or condemned all over again

but when I esteem others
better than myself

it shifts the focus off of me
and back onto Jesus.

He Will Complete It

“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,

always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy,

for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now,

being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”  Philippians 1:3-6

We sometimes begin things we don’t finish.

Thank You, Lord for this precious promise that You never leave a job half done.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Getting There

We thank You, Lord
as we joyfully pray
for You are faithful
and working always
in our lives
finishing what You’ve begun
’til we’re no long “in progress”
but complete, with Your Son.
