With Great Joy

“Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven.
And they worshiped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy,
and were continually in the temple praising and blessing God. Amen.”  Luke 24:51-53 NKJV

I love how Jesus returned to reassure the disciples before being carried up into heaven.

Thank You, Lord, for Your loving patience with us.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

All that I
have told you

you will
one day see

with eyes
of understanding

and a mind
that’s set free.

God bless you as He reassures you today.

Into Your Hands

“And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, ‘ Father, into Your hands I commend My spirit.’ And having said this, He breathed His last.” Luke 23:46 NKJV

The thought of being in His sure hands comforts me.

Thank You, Lord, for holding us close.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Father, into Your hands
I also commend my spirit

there to stay

outside of Your hold
are death and torment

only You create life
worth dying and living for.

God bless you as He holds you today!

“When He came to the place, He said to them, ‘Pray that you may not enter into temptation.’.”  Luke 22:40 NJKV

I’ve been told that it is not a sin to be tempted.

Thank You,  Lord,  for knowing what our temptations would be and teaching us how to pray concerning them.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Take this cup from me
if it be Your will

yet not my will
but Yours be done

that I may not enter
into temptation

but turn away
unto the Son.

God bless you as you turn away from temptation and to Him today!

My Word

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My word will by no means pass away.”  Luke 21:33 NKJV

His word is alive now and forever.

Thank You, Lord, for Your word that we can always count on.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Heaven and earth
will pass away

all things
will be fulfilled

but My word is alive
and cannot die

it goes on
through eternity still.

God bless you with His word today!

By Whose Authority

“The baptism of John – was it from heaven or from men?”

“And they reasoned among themselves, saying, ‘If we say, ‘From heaven’; He will say, ‘Why then did you not believe him?'”

“But if we say, ‘From men’, all the people will stone us, for they are persuaded that John was a prophet.”

“So they answered that they did not know where it was from.”  Luke 20:4-7

The truth can’t be trapped.

Thank You, Lord, for being our Truth and Authority. And here’s a simple poem . . .

The truth cannot be
trapped or changed

by people’s
words or thoughts –

Jesus is
the Son of God and Man

with authority
over all He wrought.

God bless you as you know whose authority you are under today!

Seeing and Receiving

“Now behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector, and he was rich.

And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not because of the crowd, for he was of short stature.

So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him, for He was going to pass that way.

And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and saw him, and said to him, ‘Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house.’

So he made haste and came down, and received Him joyfully.” Luke 19:2-6  NKJV

We just have to see Jesus for ourselves.

Thank You, Lord, for seeing all those who are seeking You.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Each time we
seek and see
just who
Jesus is

we cannot but be
filled with joy

and receive Him

God bless you as you see and receive Him today!

“But He said, ‘The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.’ ”  Luke 18:27

My life would not be possible without Him.

Thank You, Lord, for all You do for us each day that we could never do on our own.  And here is a simple poem . . .

You skip past feasible
and plausible

and make the impossible

no more likely
or probably

just Your miracles
definite and daily.

God bless you as He makes the impossible possible for you today!

Taking Heed

“Take heed to yourselves.  If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; if he repents, forgive him.
And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you, saying, ‘I repent’, you shall forgive him.”  Luke 17:3-4 NKJV

Personally, Jesus is more concerned with my response than another’s sin.

Thank You, Lord, for forgiving me.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Take heed
to yourselves

for surely
there will be

sinning against you –

God bless you as you forgive someone today!

“The law and the prophets were until John.  Since that time the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is pressing into it.”  Luke 16:16 NKJV

A dear wonderful friend prays for God to perma-press my days.  🙂

Thank You, Lord, for smoothing away the wrinkles of this world as we press into You.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

press into
the kingdom
of God

leaving behind
what man esteems
and discovering
what God loves.

God bless you as you press into Him today!

“But as soon as this son of yours came, who has devoured your livelihood with harlots, you killed the fatted calf for him.”
“And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours.’ ”  Luke 15:30-31 NKJV

When someone else is being blessed, it doesn’t mean I’m not.

Thank You, Lord, for Your great love and longing toward all who have lost their way and all who walk with You each day.  And here is a simple poem . . .

You are always
with Me

and all I have
is yours

including the grace
to celebrate

for upon whoever
My love is poured.

God bless you as you celebrate His great love for someone else today!
