No Blotting

“And the Lord did not say that He would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven, but He saved them by the hand of Jeroboam, the son of Joash.”  2 Kings 14:27

I was saddened to hear that people believe in Replacement Theology.

Lord, thank You for Israel and all that You have done and are yet to do through her.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

But He Saves Them

Israel is My first born
the apple of My eye

I would never blot her out
and here’s the reasons why –

through her has come My promises
through her has come My Word

through her I will come again
remember what you’ve heard.

My Deliverer

“So Jehoahaz pleaded with the Lord, and the Lord listened to him, for He saw the oppression of Israel, because the king of Syria oppressed them.”  2 Kings 13:4

“Then the Lord gave Israel a deliverer, so that they escaped from under the hand of the Syrians; and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents as before.”  2 Kings 13:5

I see this:
our pleading + God’s listening = deliverance

Lord, I’m pleading with You for deliverance of those who are being oppressed today.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Pleading

The oppression is so great
they can but hardly pray

and so I’m pleading with You
to please take it away

lift the heaviness
that keeps pushing them down

let them see their Deliverer
has come to save them now.

Dealing Faithfully

“Moreover they did not require an account from the men into whose hand they delivered the money to be paid to workmen, for they dealt faithfully.”  2 Kings 12:15

The more we deal with things in faith, the more faith we’ll have to deal with.

Lord, please help me exercise my faith regularly so it can grow.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Exponentially

My faith lies dormant
until I open my mouth
confessing You in prayer
I find You there
helping me along

and when I begin to act
on what I believe
I watch You
grow my faith
exponentially.

Be With The King

“You are to be with the king as he goes out and as he comes in.”  2 Kings 11:8

We have a King we need to stay close to, too.

Oh Lord, we long to be by Your side and go where You go today.  And here is a simple poem . . .

Every Step

He didn’t stay in one place
was always on the go

and His disciples did their best
to keep close and follow

and still His Spirit’s on the move
even now today

I pray to stay with Him
every step of the way.

Got Zeal?

“Then he said, ‘Come with me, and see my zeal for the Lord.’ So they had him ride in his chariot.”  2 Kings 10:16

Those who are on fire for God often burn alone.

Lord, please show me whose chariot You desire me to climb into today.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Still Time

Zeal for Me has dwindled
My people are afraid

of how they will be seen
if they come right out and say

that My Word is the truth
and everything’s not “okay”

zeal for Me has dwindled, yet
there’s still time to obey.

Flee

“Now when you arrive at that place, look there for Jehu, the son of Jehoshaphat, the son of Nimshi, and go in and make him rise up from among his associates, and take him to an inner room.”  2 Kings 9:2

“Then take the flask of oil, and pour it on his head, and say, ‘Thus says the Lord, “I have anointed you king over Israel.”‘  Then open the door and flee, and do not delay.”  2 Kings 9:3

If I over think before hand, I may never move and go.  If I over think afterward, I won’t be available for what’s next.

Oh Lord, help me not to stay stuck on my own thoughts, or the thoughts of others, but flee quickly back to You.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Surely

He has spoken
I have heard Him
and what I do next
will tell

if I move quickly
and don’t over think it
surely all
will be well.

All Restored

“So the king appointed a certain officer for her, saying, “Restore all that was hers, and all the proceeds of the field from the day that she left the land until now.”  2 Kings 8:6

There was no “too bad, so sad” or “finders keepers, losers weepers”.

Lord, thank You for restoring hearts, minds and souls to their originally intended condition.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Like New

We restore houses
maybe even cars

but God makes like new
our misused hearts

and returns our thoughts
to how they should be

centered on Him
for His honor and glory.

A Day Of Good News

“And when these lepers came to the outskirts of the camp, they went into one tent and ate and drank, and carried from it silver and gold and clothing, and went and hid them; then they came back and entered another tent, and carried some from there also, and went and hid it.” 2 Kings 7:8

“Then they said to one another, ‘We are not doing what is right.  This day is a day of good news, and we remain silent.” 2 Kings 7:9

The famished people within the besieged city were about to find out that God had dealt with the enemy.

Oh Lord, we desire to share Your Good News with those who are being trapped by the enemy today.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Know This

There is something Satan
doesn’t want you to know
that you are much loved
and sought after, so
he keeps you separated
and locked away
but Jesus has come –
He’s going to save you today!

No Secrets

“Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was greatly troubled by this thing; and he called his servants and said to them, ‘Will you not show me which of us is for the king of Israel?'”  2 Kings 6:11

“And one of his servants said, ‘None, my lord, O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom.'”  2 Kings 6:12

Our private thoughts and prayers and plans are also known.

Lord, thank You for using the prayers we quietly pray to impact our world.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

No Secrets

All we think and say
all we plan and pray
is never kept away
from His heart

but enters in
where it begins
to weave within
and be a part.

But He Was A Leper

“Now Naaman, commander of the army of the king of Syria, was a great and honorable man in the eyes of his master, because by him the Lord had given victory to Syria.  He was also a mighty man of valor, but he was a leper.”  2 Kings 5:1

Naaman was considered a great man, but none of it took away the fact he was a leper.

Thank You, Lord, for giving me the best thing I could ever be – a forgiven sinner covered by Your blood and Your Great Name.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

At My Best

The greatest thing
I could ever be
is a sinner
forgiven, set free
a life changed
so drastically
that it proclaims
Your Majesty.
