Rich

 

Let us be rich
in good works

ready to give
willing to share

not trusting in
wealth and money

but in our God
and prayer.

Great Gain

 

Having clothes and food
we’re blessed

then add in a
home too

and see that godliness with
contentment

is gain for me
and you.

Pure

 

Keep yourself pure
and without prejudice

as you minister to
women and men

not laying on hands
too hastily

nor joining in
others sin.

Nourished

 

Be nourished in
words of faith

carefully follow
good doctrine

rejecting all
that is profane

for its the living God
we trust in.

The Answer

 

The answer to godliness
isn’t found

in the world’s
systems and rules

but in the Word
made flesh

believed, received
Holy Spirit proved.

A Ransom

 

There is one God
and one Mediator

our Lord
Jesus Christ

given as a
ransom for all

and at the right time
testified.

The Goal

 

Love
from a pure heart

from a good conscience
from sincere faith

not giving need to
senseless disputes

but to godly edification
and grace.

How Merciful

 

How merciful
You are to me

how kind are You
Jesus

with Your love

to trust.

Traveling Light

For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.”  1 Timothy 6:7

This brings to mind a Bill Cosby comedy routine where his father would tell him he brought him into this world and he can take him back out.

Lord, we desire to keep Your perspective and priorities in mind today.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Burdenless

We came into this life
with nothing

Clearly Evident

“Some men’s sins are clearly evident, proceeding them to judgment, but those of some men follow later.”

“Likewise, the good works of some are clearly evident, and those that are otherwise cannot be hidden.”  1 Timothy 5:24-25

I am encouraged that while sins may be hidden at times, good just can’t be.

Lord, may those who are hurting and lost clearly see the evidence of Your goodness today.  And here’s a simple poem . . .
