Hope In Mercy

“The LORD takes pleasure in those
who fear Him,
In those who hope in His mercy.”   Psalm 147:11

I can feel woefully inadequate.

Thank You, Lord, for showing me what I can do today . .. hope in Your mercy!  And here’s a simple poem . . .

What To Do

I listen to their stories, their testimonies
see all the miracles You are doing in their lives

it is beautiful and wonderful
and truly You are glorified.

So what can I do, Lord
that will make a difference at this time?

“Fear Me and hope
in the mercy only  I can provide.”

  1. Well, I’ve said this before: you do MUCH that you’re not aware of. Praying that He shows you this, and works it deep into your heart. God bless you, Sis–love, Caddo

  2. My beloved sister, do you know how much power the Lord packs in your small, “simple poems”?

    “Fear Me and hope
in the mercy only I can provide.”

There is a world of truth in what you share, and don’t you know? Less is best. 🙂 You say in a few simple words, what many can not express in hundreds and even thousands of words. It’s not about length and quantity. It’s all about quality and substance, and my friend, your simple poems have both!

Much love to you as you minister in the way you are called to minister.

    Love,
    Cheryl

  3. To hope in God’s mercy needs trust in God. Many times we fear to hope in God, we fear to give it all. I think it’s a prayer for every Christian and an exercise of faith to hope in God’s mercy. Blessings from London.
I have returned from Africa and I hope to share the stories as soon as I get the time. It was a long and successful one.

  4. Reblogged this on My Delight and My Counsellors.

  5. Beautiful and refreshing Debbie!

  6. “I can feel woefully inadequate.” Without Christ we are woefully inadequate…. but through His mercy… we can do all things! Thanks for the reminder of our great need of Him and His mercy. Lord bless you.

  7. Thanks. That’s pretty simple, isn’t it?

  8. oh dearest Debbie, Your heart so evident for God … your love for Him so inspiring!!! I think we will be very surprised when we see the King one day and He shows us where He used us … I have a funny feeling, it will show many of the things we never ever would have dreamed He could use!!! You are a treasure to Him! He is using you!!!

  9. Reminds me of a song about His grace and mercy.

Your grace and mercy, brought me through
I’m living this moment because of You
I want to thank You, and praise You too
Your grace and mercy, brought me through
    Verse 1:
Thank You, for saving a sinner like me
To tell the world salvation is free
There were times when I just didnt do right
    But You watched over me

  10. “…I can feel woefully inadequate…”

I feel the exact same way when I look at the 67 year-old, bald headed image of myself in the mirror and expect him to do something great. Yet, I can’t because I’m too inadequate. Eventually, after much head hanging, I realize I’m out of my league once again and can do nothing apart from Jesus. Thank God for Him.

This particular post has six Blue Angels flying their Navy Hornets over it. A great honor, I might add, since the U.S. Navy has canceled all 2013 performances due to budget cuts. So, take Aub outside and sing “Anchors Aweigh” as the jets fly over Catland. Don’t know the verses? No one does, just make up your own and feel good today.

  11. Those are very familiar thoughts to me, Deb, although you express them so much more beautifully:) So, I am encouraged by God’s word to you. In hope…Judy

  12. Sis, your humility is sufficient for praise to the God of heaven and earth! We are so blessed to be His children and his witnesses ! You’re a loud voice for us all! I dearly love you !

  13. Time would fail us to tell of His preserving… sustaining… pardoning… supplying mercy. Unto His own… God is “the Father of mercies” (2 Cor. 1:3).

“When all Thy mercies, O my God,
    My rising soul surveys,
Transported with the view I’m lost,
    In wonder, love, and praise.”

    A.W. Pink

  14. Love you, Sis, and thank you for your constant support and prayer! God bless you on this wonderful Wednesday!!

  23. So thankful with you, Mr. Larry, that we can do nothing apart from Jesus! Yay Jesus! 🙂 He does not disappoint. God bless you as you look in the mirror and see Jesus today! 🙂
Laughing about making up the verses to the song .. .Aub is good at that!

  24. Praising Jesus that this encouraged you, dear Judy! Hoping in His mercy sounded like a good plan to me too! God bless you bunches!

  25. You are super kind and gracious, Debbie. And you SHINE! Thank you for the witness you are, that nothing stops you! love and God bless you!

  26. Wow Ike . .I really loved this! Thank you for getting the focus on God and His mercy, instead of us (me) and the inadequacies. That was what I was going for and you helped big time! 🙂 God bless you with His mercy tonight!

  27. Debbie, it is precisely your humble attitude that makes one of great use for his kingdom. He can’t fill us with his Spirit if it’s full of ourselves.

    Blessings ~ Wendy

  28. Even what we can do comes back to what He has done – I’m so glad, for I, too, feel so inadequate. I guess that’s only because I AM! 🙂

  29. I love that Wendy .. that He can’t fill us with His Spirit if it’s full of ourselves! 🙂 Praying to be emptied of me more and more! Thank you and God bless you!!

  30. Oh . .I loved that, Melody! ” Even what we can do comes back to what He has done.” You are so wise! Thank you and God bless you with mercy today!

  31. This one definitely felt like a song…and what a lovely refrain. 🙂

    Love,
    Theresa

  32. this is awesome Deb – another winner! Testimony is one of my favorite pass-times – hearing others, and telling mine. What we have seen with our eyes and heard with our eyes, and our hands have touched.

  33. I had to go re-read it , Theresa! haha! You are so wonderful at spotting things I miss! God bless you as you hope in His mercy today. Love you!!

  34. I love testimonies too, Mr. Ben! Like a faith vitamin for us! 🙂 Your comments are great encouragement boosters too. . .thank you and God bless you!

  35. >> “So what can I do, Lord that will make a difference at this time?”

Debbie, you are YOU. You are not anyone else. You are the Debbie that God chose and He delights in you. He has given you a ministry and the number of people who always comment here proves that your ministry is fruitful.

I would love to be able to write ‘simple poems’ like you do, but that is the gift God has given to YOU.

I praise God for you and for the way He uses you to bless and encourage me.

  36. I love that – faith vitamins.

  37. Thank you so much for encouraging me, mentor Angela! You are a precious treasure to Him and us! God bless you and Happy Mother’s Day!

  38. Debbie, I just happen to reread this particular one and noticed the word “mercy” which keeps popping up today. My husband was speaking about God’s mercy this morning as we discussed a person close to us who desperately needs us to continue showing God’s mercy; l pray this lost one turns to it firsthand himself. 🙂

  39. Praying with you, Wendy. There is nothing more wonderful than when that happens!
