Deep Places

“Whatever the LORD pleases He does,
In heaven and in earth,
In the seas and in all deep places.”  Psalm 135:6

Deep places can be a bit intimidating.

Lord, let us not be afraid as You guide us into the deep things of You.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Depth of Knowing

From deep oceans
to deep space

from deep forests
and deep caves

God creates
depth for us

to know His good pleasure
and limitlessness.

  1. Oh yay! This one I “get” and LOVE–and I love the pic too! When I feel just “too odd”, it’s a comfort to know that “being deep” is something God put in me–a bit of Him!! God bless you so abundantly, dear Sis–love jael-caddo

  2. i want to go deeper than shallow. I don’t want plateaus.

  3. Oh Debs, this is so true that we fear the Lord going into the depths of our heart, soul, mind and spirit. We need to trust Him to do what He does for our good. It is always good to also seek the deep mysteries of the Lord. Pray you have some really deep, intimate times with Jesus that build you up. May you be revived, renewed and encouraged as He reveals secrets to you, His beloved 🙂
    Love always, Ritas

  4. Dearest Debbie, This reminds me of Psalm 42:7 “Deep calls to deep at the roar of your waterfalls; all your breakers and your waves have gone over me.” … thanks for pointing us to the Lord in such a deep way today!

  5. limitless. I love it.

  6. I love that you confess that the deep is intimidating, and then see that God creates the depth for us. We need the deep, even if it scares us.
    Great poem Deb!

  7. What a blessing it is to know that the Lord is taking us into His deep places. I believe this is a sure sign that we are growing in HIm and being faithful with the knowledge He has already given to us!

Thanks Deb for the encouraging words.

  8. Reblogged this on My Delight and My Counsellors.

  9. Each day that I dig deeper and deeper into the Bible I come up with more amazing facts about His greatness and wonder and what He requires of me! ~ Blessings ~

  10. “…Deep places can be a bit intimidating…”

When I was a young, I wanted to know all the deep things of God. It wasn’t necessarily a spiritual hunger, but an intellectual desire and probably a prideful one at that. As I’ve grown in the Lord, I’ve realized there is a price to pay for knowing more about God. That price then requires a decision on my part on whether or not I want to pay it. Oh well! Yet, that’s what our journey is all about.

Sufferin’ succotash! Great post today. So, which horse is Aub readying for the Kentucky Derby? Time is running short. Not only is there a horse race, but there are fireworks, balloon race, and famous Kentucky cheese breads to eat.

  11. Mysterious and blue deep…stunning photo.

  12. after this weekend ~ I’ve come to be extra grateful for God taking me where He alone can descend to, then ascend from, thank you faithful friend ~Debbie

  13. Debbie, I confess that I admire and fear the depths of space, oceans, and caves; however, I rejoice that God’s love is deeper and wider than any and all of these. Thank you for the reminder that our “deep places” can be a schoolroom for us to learn more of his grace, love, and power.

    Blessings ~ Wendy

  14. I love the verse and the photo is awesome!

  15. This poem is so beautiful. It has a majestic feel to it like the hymn “How Great Thou Art”.

“32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” Luke 12:32

  16. You are a deep person, dear JC! And beautifully so! My family took a vacation out west one year, and we got to see this along with Old Faithful and many bubbling mud pots. 🙂 Love you and all of Him in you! God bless you muchly and more!

  17. Oh . .. plateaus. Those do kind of stink, don’t they? 🙂 Thank you and God bless you deeply!

  31. I would love to have your prayers..i get bad headaches and i’m seeing a brain doctor to find out why..please pray.

  32. Praying with you tonight, dear Betty, for answers and healing, for peace and comfort. Thank you for letting us know .. God bless you!

  33. Debbie thank you so much.

  34. David prayed [Psalm 69:15] ‘Let not the waterflood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me.’ God answered David’s prayer. He praised God for lifting him from the miry pit.

God knows the perils of the deep for He went to the depth of grief Himself in order to redeem us.

God also knows the other side of the coin. In the words of Paul ‘O the depth of the riches, both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgements and His ways past finding out!’

    >> “God creates depth for us to know His good pleasure and limitlessness.
Amen! In both the depths of despair and the depths of the riches of His love and blessings, He works in us, moulding us to the image of Christ.

    What an incredibly amazing God!

  35. Thank you, mentor Angela, in showing us different kinds of depths and how He is there in each one! God bless you deeply and widely today!

  36. It is true Deb in our deep places we come to know the power of our God. Thanks for the reminder.

  37. Thank you, Pastor J, for sharing what those deep places are for! God bless you!

  38. I had to just come back and comment for old times sake. What a precious treasure the Lord is and what a beautiful vessel you are, Deb!

    Love and Blessings,

  39. You bless me and help me! Thank you for coming back here, for old times sake. :). Maybe one day I will even post again.
