There Is Forgiveness

“If You, LORD, should mark
iniquities
O LORD, who could stand?

But there is forgiveness with You;
That You may be feared.”  Psalm 130:3-4

I’m in awe of God’s power to forgive.

Lord, please teach us to be powerfully forgiving.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Powerful Enough

Man-made gods
don’t forgive
and people can
forget to

but our God
who created all
is powerful
enough to.

  1. if there is no forgiveness, I am in really deep. 🙂

  2. I am counting on that one!!!! Thank you for the reminders … we need them often 🙂

  3. Powerful Debbie, I was thinking one day how bad I intentionally sinned against God, and I became so full of regret and asked again, please forgive me God. I felt wrong for asking, reminding God of something He had forgotten. I began to praise Him for forgiveness…it was liberating! When the enemy reminds me how bad I was, I thank God for forgiveness. Thanks for reminding me Deb, blessings! Keith

  4. Reblogged this on My Delight and My Counsellors.

  5. I am so thankful for the forgiveness that comes from our Lord. Without His gracious forgiveness, I would be doomed. May He continue to bless you Deb.

  6. Wow Deb. I love that you liked power and forgiveness. I don’t think we realize how much power that requires! Good insight dear one. That may explain why it is His forgiveness that causes men to fear the Lord as the passage says in the end.

  7. awesome God!

  8. I love anything to do with forgiveness as it is the only life-line I have to God. . . I know all to well the sting of rejection when other’s won’t forgive ~ but praise my Lord and Savior my repentance is never rejected, rather it is embraced by forgiveness. Amen and Amen and God Bless you Deb!

  9. I believe that when we forgive others who have hurt or failed us, we are releasing the power of God into their lives.

Your poem was so good I read it three times. Thus, it’s score is a 30.

Today is the day when the Titanic sank in 1912. So, stay off big boats until tomorrow and make sure Aub has a life preserver on at all times, even while riding horses.

  10. if He can do it, we should too! He’d never ask us to do anything that he hasn’t done~this I’m certain of. I love Israel !

  11. I like the concept of powerful enough to forgive – it sort of gets me off the hook when I am trying so hard to forgive and failing.

  12. I am ever grateful for his power to forgive and to enable us to forgive those who’ve harmed us. Debbie, I like how you have shown one of the biggest differences between God and gods.

    Blessings ~ Wendy

  13. Proverbs 17:15…. “He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous..both of them alike are an abomination to the Lord.” The greatest problem in all of scripture is that if God is just… He could not just forgive you.

A price had to be paid and Jesus Christ stood in our law-place and was crushed under the wrath of His Father. When he cried out.. “It is finished”.. its like He turned over that cup and not one drop of wrath came out… He drank it all. Justice has been satisfied completely. He proved once and for all that God is just and the justifier of wicked men.

Forgiveness came with a price I will never understand. Folks….we got ourselves a God!

  14. I find this ability of His very perplexing, and astonishing – because I find it so difficult an obstacle to overcome and show to those who have so deeply harmed me. I find myself drawn and intrigued by this Jesus who could forgive as He died…

  15. As you say, Debbie, it takes a tremendous amount of power to forgive as God forgives. When HE forgives, all memory of that sin is completely eradicated. When WE forgive, even though we are confident we have completely forgiven, we still remember, even if there are no hard feelings.

God CHOOSES to forgive and to eradicate the sin, “just-as-if-I’d” never sinned.

    What an incredibly amazing God!

  16. That is one of my favorite passages of scripture in the whole Bible. Lately I have not been as forgiving as I ought to be. I need to work on that.

    Love,
    Theresa
