What Ails You?

“What ails you, O sea, that you fled?
O Jordan, that you turned back?”  Psalm 114:5

Nothing will stop God from His plans and promises.

Oh Lord, let me not get bogged down by what I see.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

The Whole Earth Trembles

The Red Sea didn’t
block My people

nor did the Jordan keep them
from where they were to be

so do not think
what’s in front of you

is too big
for even Me.

  1. Ahhh YES, I love, love, love, love, love This!!! Great job, Sweet Sis Deb–God bless you BIG (that “Big” is allowed, right?!!)–Happy Friday! Love you, sis Caddorino

  2. HALLELUJAH! (shouting joyfully!)

    “so do not think
    what’s in front of you

    is too big
    for even Me.”

HA! I could dance over that one! Whoo Hoo! Yes!

Father, NOTHING is too big for You! Amen and amen!

Sis Deb, that was soooo anointed… Do you ever share these with your church? Because if not, THIS is one that you MUST share. It’s too good to keep to yourself!

    Love,
    Cheryl

  3. AMEN! Needed this truth today Debbie. Our issues can seem “too big” but this reminder that there’s nothing our God can’t handle! Thank you 🙂

  4. Also interesting – that expression ‘What ails you?’ – never knew it originated in the Bible before!

  7. As the Lord departed the Red Sea for Moses He has departed the seas in our lives as well.

  8. God bless you, Dearest Deb!!

    Beautiful post!!

    “…do not think
    what’s in front of you

    is too big
    for even Me.”

    Amen!!

Exodus 14: 13-14: And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.

The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

When the children of Israel found themselves between the Pharoah’s army and the Red Sea, they received a crash course on the power and might of the God we serve! Pharoah and his army was suddenly not so powerful after all!

When I read your post, the song that leaped into my heart was ‘Still’. Gratefully sharing with you today!

Fire, Flood, Pharoah… No match for my Papa!!

    Blessed,
    ann

  9. Amen! I loved this.

  10. Praise to God, who is bigger than anything that’s before us!

  11. I loved the parted Sea!!!! Great post!

  12. And awe came upon every soul. Acts 2:43

“Let us not stop at any benefit we may have had, and not even with the highest experiences we may have enjoyed. Let us seek to know more and more of the glory of God. That is what leads always to a true experience. We need to know the majesty of God, the sovereignty of God, and to feel a sense of awe and of wonder. Do we know this? Is there in our churches a sense of wonder and of amazement?”

  13. “God is very confident in Himself; He never doubts anything He is doing. It is this confidence that He seeks to build into the people He touches with His grace.” (Graham Cooke)

I just read this and thought it fit in with your poem today. Great poem!

Aub needs a frog. She could then enter it in the Calaveras Frog Jumping contest. If she enters, I just might drive up and watch her.

  14. extremely important to know and understand the character of God, that this HIS work, and we are part of his work, not the other way around ! Wonderful poem! A prayer and upward spirall praise!

Oh, Aub would love a frog. We’ve had several, but they are slippery and a little harder to handle, for her. Insert picture of me hopping after them into the bushes, trying to get them back for her. 🙂 Toads are more her style but I think we’d be disqualified.

  31. I really loved this, Debbie, that we are part of His work and not the other way around! That blessed me! God bless you and the work He does and invites you to join Him in!

  32. This really helps me too, Pastor J .. just thinking that forward is the only way, with Him! God bless you as He opens your seas!

  33. God bless you abundantly, Greisy, and move those big things like they are really small. 🙂

  36. You are so cute, Melody and I need to head over and get me some of those lessons you serve up so beautifully! Just one idea .. maybe some tape instead of staples! 🙂
God bless you and all that He makes flee on your behalf!

  37. This is good – so good. I have been thinking about testimony, and that is exactly what the parting of the sea and river where for this Israelites, testimony of what God had done.

We must keep in our memories what God has done for each of us, and keep it fresh, so our confidence will be in Him.

    Good word!

  38. I am comforted knowing that my Lord is in absolute contgrol fo all things. When life SEEMS to be spinning out of control, I can rest assured it is in the hands of a loving Heavenly Father who works all things for the good of His people. Lord bless you Debbie

  39. What is it that makes us dwell on the aspect of what ails us? How could we shift ourselves to dwell on the aspect of what works for us?

The world seems to be going crazy and we could easily be fearful of what might happen – BUT – we believe God. We know our God and we trust our God, because He alone is worthy.
