Awesome

“Holy and awesome is His name.”  Psalm 111:9

As her seven children all used the word ‘awesome’ frequently, a wise mom from our prayer group showed them that ‘awesome’ originated with God.

Lord, we rejoice that You are the definition of awesome!  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Say The Name

Holy and awesome
that is You

worthy and wonderful
through and through

and every time
I say Your name

my heart , mind and soul
are instantly changed.

  1. It’s true for me that whenever I say His Name, there is power for every situation: in praise, He inhabits; demons must flee; in my need, His grace and supply are a rushing flood; in my weakness, His Name grants strength and JOY; in my pain, His Name gives comfort and compassion; in repentence, He gives redemption; in prayer, He gives a word of wisdom, and yet more Faith….Wonderful poem and message, Sis Deb–we say His Name and are changed from glory to glory! God bless your Tuesday–love, sis Caddo

  2. I have tried hard to eliminate “awesome” from my vocab unless I am talking about God. Your post says why.

  3. Amen! Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty — who was, and who is and who is to come!

  5. Reblogged this on My Delight and My Counsellors.

  6. I love the way this poem sounds when you say it out loud. I also really appreciate the true meaning of awesome.

“9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

    10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:9-11

    Love,
    Theresa

  7. Sometimes I think the title “awesome” is best to be reserved for the Lord. For He is the ONLY One that should always inspire our awe, respect and absolute submission. Thanks Deb.

  8. Great – and thanks for for re-claiming awesome!

  9. The mom in your prayer group is a wise woman, but I’d guess one of her children looked at her and said, “That’s awesome. Thanks.” Yet, just knowing where the word originated will eventually have its affect on them.

Great poem. You’re hitting on all eight cylinders as usual. Say, “Hi,” to Sun, Beam, and Aub.

  10. It’s that name which brings much power. It’s in His name that demons run, it’s that name where the sick is healed it’s that name that brings peace to all it’s that name I tell you it’s that name when every knee will bow and every tongue will confuse that Jesus Christ is LORD.

  11. So – I am thinking this one deserves music – needs to be sung – love it Sis!

  12. a child was brought to pray for my soul this day~you Deb, and we should all be as one of these, said Jesus, pointing to a child. Thank you friend ~ Deborah

  21. 🙂 Thanks, Mr. Larry for always encouraging and blessing! That mom is something else. I haven’t seen her in years, but such a wonderful family. All of them.
Sun and Beam have been squabbling some. So, I gave them each a piece of popcorn, trying to help. They were happy and quieted down, until Sun left her piece of popcorn to go grab Beam’s. haha! Beam got even later, when Sun got in the wheel, but wasn’t running while Beam was, So Sun just did loopy loops, around and around. They make Aub laugh . .me too!
    God bless you bunches!
