Our Requests

“And He gave them their request,
But sent leanness into their soul.”  Psalm 106:15

Wanting what God wants satisfies us.

Lord, may my  prayers be according to Your will today.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

More

You know
what I need
more than
I do

so let me pray
mostly for
more and more
of You.

  3. More and more of HIM–I certainly agree, Sis Deb! I am ever hungry–a spiritual hog! God bless you to overflowing as you sail into Tuesday–I’m praying for healing and home needs, joy that gives strength, and always a double portion of His grace–love, sis Caddo

  4. I LOVE the way you put this Debbie. Surely receiving more of Him will mean our true thirst is quenched. So thankful when he awakens us to desire His amazing ‘filling’. Perfect song to match too – I love Jesus Culture 🙂

  5. nice song Debbie …thanks for sharing…

  6. Reblogged this on My Delight and My Counsellors.

  7. What does leanness in the soul mean to you Debbie?

  8. We are just like the Israelites…. so concerned about our physical food and supplies that we overemphasize them. So unconcerned about our spiritual food and growth that we minimize it.

May the Lord help us to get our priorities straight and seek His spiritual blessings above our physical blessings.

Thank you Deb. I needed the reminder

  9. A perfect prayer. Thanks my friend.

  10. “And He gave them their request,
But sent leanness into their soul.” Psalm 106:15”

This is one of those verses which always causes me to shudder. A loving Father, who knows what’s best for His children, ends up giving in to His spoiled insistent children. The result is a harsh lesson to the Israeli whiners at the time, but one, we need to give attention to now.

So, Lord help me to agree with Debbie’s wise words:

    “You know
    what I need
    more than
    I do…”

Really, really awesome. Tell Aub to get her pony ready because the first Saturday in May will be here shortly. You know, the Kentucky Derby.

  11. Amen! to have more of GOD is and should be our prayer

  12. He knows what we need more than we do…yes…if I learn to rest in that, that would be good!

  13. He knows best but we want what we want and whine when He gives it to us wanting something more. We need to echo your prayer for more of Him.

  14. You are so right, Deborah! So thankful for His patience as we learn this. 🙂 God bless you wonderfully!

  15. Thank you, beautiful FK, for praying with me! God bless you as He is your main need!

  16. You have me thinking of how you have to listen to the messages and sermons, even more than once . .because you might have missed something. Yes, you are hungry for more of Him .. .and that’s a good God thing! Love you and thank you for your prayers! God bless you as He pours out His grace and love upon you!

  17. So good to see you, flora! Thanks for encouraging and God bless you muchly!

  18. Thank you for the reblog and God bless you abundantly!

  19. Good question again, Tammy! 🙂 Thank you for reading and asking things that I need to consider too. Just to me (not looking it up to see what someone smarter and more knowledgeable would say) , that leanness in the soul signifies me not wanting or caring about the deeper things of God . .His heart, His desires, His thoughts. His understandings. Kind of like a shallow faith.
    God bless you and yours!

  20. Praying for that now, Pastor Rob, for His help with my priorities! Thank you so much, for taking the time here, to bless and help and teach. God bless you!

  21. God bless you, poet friend . .and give you more. 🙂

  22. Thank you for understanding and encouraging us like you do, Mr. Larry! God bless you as you pray those prayers closest to His heart.
p.s. We’ll ask Julie which one she thinks will be best for the Derby! 🙂

  23. I can know this . ..but forget. So thankful that He reminds me! God bless you, dear Desiray, as He answers and loves your prayers!

  24. I am asking to learn too . ..and to rest too! God bless you, Brook, as you look to Him!

  25. So true . .we do act like whiny kids! haha! Oh what a good God to be patient with us and help us want Him more! Thank you and God bless you, Patricia! I love your beautiful posts!

  26. Praying with you Deb for more and more of Him! Thank you!

  27. God bless you, Tom, as you pray!

  28. That is a beautiful and wise poem.

    The song is pretty, too.

    Love,
    Theresa

  29. Thank you, wonderful woman of the Word and God bless you too! love you and am thinking of you!

  30. What a powerful scriptural warning. The idea that by answering a prayer God may actually be removing blessing is a sobering thought. I want His will alone!

  31. More and more and more and more of Jesus.
    Yes, I pray for that . . .
but really, SHOULD I pray that way?

Isn’t it a fact that I have ALL of Jesus?
Can I ever have more of Him?
Didn’t He give HIMSELF for me and promise that He would never leave me?
Didn’t He say I am complete in Him?

    But I want more of Him . . .

Surely, the answer to my desire is within ME.
I have ALL of Jesus, but does He have all of me?
Is my every thought, attitude, desire, word and deed surrendered to Him?
Surely, the way to have more of Jesus is to allow Him to have complete control of me.

Yes, please, I want more and more and more of Jesus.

“in ALL things He should have the preeminence” Col 1:18

  32. Me too, and I trust His Holy Spirit helps us with this! God bless you, Pastor J!

  33. What a powerful and revealing comment, Mentor Angela. Last night, that song was playing in my head and I remembered the words that we have as much of Jesus as we want. Praying with you to let Him have all of me. God bless you!!
